Yep, on reflection he probably could have gone down a size to a 33 in these and we should've hoisted the waist up a little higher to really emphasise the rise on them. @twinning I would trust your measurements over being swayed by the dims of the model. I appreciate the images above are muddying the waters somewhat so apologies for that. We'll reshoot in the coming weeks on a model who is better suited to the 1955.

As Alex mentioned above, happy to help with specific sizing queries now in the short term to help you find a pair!

The devil is in the detail..

Would you say that I could get away with a 31.9 (size 32) if I currently have a well fitting 634s that’s sized 32.5 since these have a higher rise?

Assuming that your 634 measure 32.5 the way we measure, now, after wear and not immediatley after a wash, then your safe tolerance for another pair of similar fitting jeans (based on waist alone, clearly - i cannot assess how the leg would fit from the info provided) would be 31.5-32.0. This would allow them to stretch to about the same size.

If you are saying that you have a pair of 634S that measured 32.5 at the time of purchase, then the math is slightly different.

In my experience, the average customer has a slightly narrower "waist" at the point that the 1955 is designed to sit than the 634, which would support you fitting on the smaller end of the bracket i gave - so yes, I would predict that size would work for you.

Also, @harleylawhorn you have quite a few posts, so I assume you've shopped with us a few times before, but in case you were not aware, you can purchase a tag size 32 and ask for the crew to ship you the pair with an actual waist closest to xxx" as possible if you have a target you are trying to hit.

@Alex that’s awesome Alex. Thank you. But going off of what you just said, anywhere around 32 would probably be money.

@Alex Oh it's all good, I guess the question is to what purpose the lookbook-style shots. These look amazing, and seriously he's rockin' the look. But as far as getting a sense of the fit on a particular body I was just kinda scratching my head lol.

As far as unanswered questions, no I don't think so. Based on measurements of the jeans I own, the jeans I've tried on in the past, and so forth, I'm confident size 34 works for me, though might add a note to see if any pairs happen to be larger than the norm in the waist.

In all honesty, I expect these to sell out immediately at launch tomorrow, so I have about 24 hours to decide if I'm going to try to get a pair or not--I definitely want the 1955 in indigo but if I don't manage to get a pair of the OD it won't be the end of the world.

              Thanks for the help!

@Alex just re read your first post and read it a little wrong the first time. The original measurement of the 634’s were 32.5. Now they stretched to a 33”. So I’m still assuming that if I get a 31.9, they’ll stretch to at least a 32.5, but would be fine because the waist fit opposed to the hip fit

My gut feel is that you would be fine because of waist/hip fit, but if you wanted to be safe you could order a tag 32 and ask for a pair slightly larger than chart ~32.5" and see if there is an outlier pair

What would be the best approach for tomorrow’s release?

I am in between sizes and am looking for the following.

                      Waist: 35.5
                      Thigh: 13.8-14

Should I go for a size 35 and ask for an outlier to the larger side in thigh measurement or go 36 and ask for an outlier to the smaller side in waist measurement?

I do like the slightly smaller top block with the shorter rise of the 35 but the majority of the time the limiting factor is my thighs.

I am trying to prevent the extra material in the top block to fit my thigh and waist measurement. Not wanting the diaper look lol.

If you want to be super safe, order a 35 and a 36, add this as a note in your order, then ask us to refund you for the pair you dont take prior to shipping (you will be out of pocket for ~24h). If you don't want to do that, then I think 35 with a larger thigh is safer
