  • RE: IHM-37-ODG - Oiled Whipcord N1 Deck Jacket - Olive Drab Green

Just picked up an XL at Self Edge SF and love it. I expected to be an L, given I wear XL in IH shirts and most have said to size down on the N1. But XL is a really nice fit -- a little big with a tee shirt but perfect with a long sleeve shirt or flannel.

Appreciate that IH chose not to line the sleeves with alpaca. The quilted satin lining is perfect -- less bulky and more comfortable. Do wish the interior pocket was a little bigger but still glad it's there.

  • RE: IH-1955S - 21oz Selvedge Denim "1955" Vintage Tapered Cut Jeans - Indigo

To their credit, Iron Heart makes jeans for different body types and preferences. I’ve always looked and felt better with higher rise pants. Some guys are the exact opposite. The 888 and 1955 are a dream fit for me up top — similar but not identical. The 634 sits lower but is surprisingly comfortable, probably due to the top block shape and front/back rise differential.

On skinnier guys with no arse, higher rise jeans can sag down and result in diaper butt. On guys that are fuller up top (like me), low rise jeans feel like they’re falling off. Thankfully, this isn’t the case with the 888 or 1955, or even the 634.

  • RE: IH-1955-UHR - Ultra Heavy Raw 1955 Cut

Too bad, as the 1955 has become my favorite cut -- even better (for me) than the 888. I do have a size 34 pair of 1955 UHR from a few years ago that I love but are now too small, so get no wear. Would love to see the 1955S-UHR reintroduced. But happy to have the 1955S in 21 oz.

Looks really nice. But can't justify with this heavyweight from years past:

Looking forward to the 1955s-21 too -- anyone know if these are days, weeks, or months out?

Ah, Giles just said 'soon' in another thread!

  • RE: IHM-37-GRN - Oiled Whipcord N1 Deck Jacket - Army Green

^ Got it. I don't have long arms, but am OK with the longish sleeves on my Olive N-1 in XL from late 2023.

I wonder if the sizing gets tweaked a little each year (not just this year, but in the past). I remember trying on a Large in 2022 and the arms were very long relative to the rest of the jacket. I figured the IH N-1 just didn't work for me. But a year later (October 2023), I tried on an Olive XL and it was perfect. I was fortunate to have a store nearby (Self Edge) to try one one. Measurements are key, but a little tricky with a bulky item like this.

  • RE: IH-888S-UHR - 21/23oz Ultra Heavy Raw Selvedge Denim High Rise Tapered Cut Jeans

I have a pair of 888s-18oz. in size 35 that have stretched to a comfortable, trim fit. Waist started out at 34.5" and is now 35.5" after about two weeks of wear. I wouldn't want them any trimmer across the waist or hips, but the fit is good.

I'm considering a pair of 888s-UHR and am trying to decide between size 35 and 36. While I could see sticking with the same size (35) and waiting for stretch, I'm wondering if 36 may be a better option with this thicker, heavier duty denim. If they're a bit big after a warm soak, might a warm wash and few minutes in the dryer (sacrilege of sacrileges) bring them in a bit more?

Good to know Matt -- it did cross my mind that too small in UHR is not a good thing -- ouch 😉 Also good to know that UHR stretches back to, but not beyond, original measurements. Different for once-washed 21 or 18oz., of course, which will go past original under pressure.

Congrats to those who scored. I hesitated on sizing and they were gone in a heartbeat. Here's to a restock!

  • RE: IH-1955S-OD - 21oz Selvedge Denim "1955" Vintage Tapered Cut Jeans - OD Black

For those familiar with Iron Heart's 21 oz. denim in OD and indigo versions, would you size up one size for the OD version here? I know that some of you did this with the OD version of the 888S-21 and it worked out well.

  • RE: IH-1955S-OD - 21oz Selvedge Denim "1955" Vintage Tapered Cut Jeans - OD Black

We have a divergence of opinion re sizing but a lot of enthusiasm for the 1955S! An obvious but important point about sizing up is that it’s not only the waist that gets bigger but everything else too. Given the width of the 1955 down below I’m hesitant to size up for fear they’ll get too wide from the knee down. This isn’t an issue with the 888, which is pretty trim through the lower leg. Here, sizing up might be an advantage.

  • RE: IH-1955S - 21oz Selvedge Denim "1955" Vintage Tapered Cut Jeans - Indigo

In response to your question thevintagefuture, I'd say the top block of the 1955 is slightly roomier than the 888. The latter is pretty body contouring while the 1955 comes in a little more at the waist with a bit more room in the hip. Put another way, it's easier for me to get my hands in the pockets of my 1955. Both have a nice top block -- I prefer the 1955's by a hair. Down below, the ideal would be a blend of the two. So I'm waiting for the 1958 or 855 😉

^ that's probably a good thing Go For Chill 😉

If the OD versions do stretch a bit more, as yannis suggests, I could probably make size 35 work. If not, 36 is the safe bet.
