This is my second pair, a refresh. I take a picture with my originals that took, you know, six years to fade (even a little).

The lesson here for me is not new: always trust the IH numbers. One of the things IH figured out from the start is that a reliable fit is just as important as the premium product. It's still the case that so many other fine Japanese brands really don't offer a "serious" fit chart. I compared this vest with the recent Sashiko and an older Wabash example, and that made ordering the correct size a bit "odd" (Am I realllly a XXL?) but the chart makes it clear and you should more (and less) ignore the tag size.
It's been awhile since I've written on the Forum (but nothing dulls my love and admiration for Iron Heart). Anyways, when I first saw the picture of this 21 tote, I didn't see the 21. My day job is Professor and one of the languages I teach is classical Tibetan. This 21 bears a striking resemblance to the Tibetan letter "l". My example here in the picture is a bit dull but in more stylized writing it looks so much like this 21 I did a double take. Merry merry to you all.

I sealed final grades for my University students today and wore the 777-XHS to celebrate with body armour.
I'm always an IH vest guy but when I compare the sizing of this offering with the recent sashiko, I had to size up to get the fit. I think I got it right (we'll see). I always find IH charts reliable (unlike almost everyone else). It's my own calculations I can doubt. Anyway, I think these are so cool they will race out the door so I didn't wait.
I'll be at work at release time and will suddenly have to be excused from the meeting for a few minutes. I will conceal the joy on my face when I return should I score the pair.
There must have been a return because a restock notice was in my box this morning. It took about 11 seconds for me to pull the trigger (it'da' been faster if my connection were better). I had my eye on this from the outset and...missed it. Happy fella' here. I often wear the wabash vests with an old school knit tie and white button down Oxford, and I'll post a comparable fit here when the occasion arises. Think: moto-thug professor look. Looking forward to that telltale shipping notice.
"No matter what I do...they keep pulling me back in."
Confession: I keep my favourite fits in two sizes (if I can) and that's 1955 along with 634. These came just in time. Now I'll save for that incoming fall suede type iii.
Is it possible to make a UHR denim in black?
No hand warmers? I will quote Scripture in this case: "And he wept..."

@Hohba01 said in IH-1955S - 21oz Selvedge Denim "1955" Vintage Tapered Cut Jeans - Indigo:
Already have to many jeans but if XHS/UHR comes out in 1955 i will not be able to resist buying at least one pair.
I too hope we see a heavyweight 1955. This is my best cut. I hope the recent sell out provides some impetus. I need no more jeans likely ever (rotation + age = IH is in my will, not just my closet). But a UHR/XHS...oh yeah.

@bluemantra , this pair started at 14.5 inches and after the hot wash they are now 13.5 in the thigh (measured the IH way). So about an inch. My overall fit is a bit on the loose side (I could fit a size smaller), but this is what I prefer, which means I tend not to stress stretch much at all. I hope this helps.
Post Wash Update
This is my second pair of UHR---the first were 777 some years ago and they are pretty much perfect in fit and patina. I wanted then as I did now to get all the shrink and stuff out of them from the first, if that's possible. I washed them on the shortest hot cycle without a spin rinse and hung them dry. They shrank one full inch in the waist and two full inches in the inseam. I'm delighted with the result and it's just as expected. There was no marbling or untoward consequences to washing rather than soaking, so it seems. I hope this helps, but I'd just say that (as usual) Iron Heart's declarations regarding size and care are spot on. What IH said would happen is exactly how they turned out. I'm going to wear the crap outta' them now.
