Today we visited Padua, home to one of the oldest universities in the world (founded in 1222).

Galilei and Copernicus, Andreas Vesalius and William Harvey, among others, taught here (awesome academic name-dropping).

This is the lectern from which Galilei gave his lectures.

Unfortunately, we couldn't visit the Scrovegni Chapel with Giottos frescoes because we hadn't booked tickets in advance. Darn, but I'll come back sometime.

But now it‘s time for wine & pasta. Salute!

Camp endo has moved and we‘re now in the Laguna die Grado near the Gulf of Trieste on a small campside on it‘s own little island (Isola del Paradiso, sic!).

Going to have a few relaxed days and skipped our plans for the Alps due to weather conditions up there.

That varies, sometimes only one night, currently four nights.

Today we explored the Laguna di Grado by e-bike.

We visited Grado with its Basilica of Sant'Eufemia, dating from the middle of the first millennium.

But above all, we simply had fun cycling through this fascinating lagoon and marsh landscape in sunshine and only a light wind, with the Alps visible in the background.

As a reward, we had spaghetti alla vongole. Delicious!

Grado is pretty close to where we live. When there is not too much traffic we can do it in 3 hours. It’s our spontaneous weekend at the sea destination.

What a wonderful tour we had. Frankfurt's Hotel Nizza, then across the Alps to Italy. Ravenna with its beautiful mosaic churches, the Holy House of Loreto and it's tattooing history, San Marino & Venezia with the Biennale, the academic tradition of Padua, and finally the beauty and tranquility of the Laguna di Grado. Now it's time to go home. Love from Mrs E and me. Keep travelling and see you soon.
