@Chap Our grill came with a box of the industrial processed binchotan replica stuff, not the actual oak from Japan. On our first cook we did notice that even this stuff burns hotter than other charcoals I've used, but I wonder how the real thing is. Pretty dear though. Do you have experience with the Japanese oak real stuff?

The above is @Alex recipe for Jamaican rice…it’s really good. I was chatting with a Jamaican whist on vacation this year and she was nodding and smiling when I was telling her the recipe. She approved!! She did say that a trick she uses is freshly grated ginger. Added and was a great touch.

370 grams basmati rice
1 can (400 grams) red kidney beans, drained and rinsed
1 can (400 ml) coconut milk
250 ml water
2 spring onions, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 whole Scotch bonnet pepper halved
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon ground allspice
½ teaspoon ground black pepperPut all the above in a rice cooker, and set to white rice function. Its that easy

above is enough to feed 4 well
