@cyclops agreed! Before the news that this could possibly be the last UHR, it was low on my list from all the talk of being cardboard and not the most comfortable, and I get the cardboard comparison with how rigid/crunchy it is out of the wash. I haven't found them uncomfortable at all. I have been finding these more enjoyable new compared to brand new xhs. The character and hand feel of the denim is amazing; I often find myself caressing this denim haha. I'm enjoying it so much, I almost wish I bought 2 pairs.

Will echo the above that this is a special fabric, and I would anticipate that it won't take long at all to transition from rigid to comfortable and memorable.
It has haunted me all week that I sized these incorrectly, given their (even more so now) extremely limited nature.

Couldn’t wait LOL. Had to confirm the 888 fit cuz I want to potentially buy more before the fall and this is my first pair. Really pleased with how these turned out post soak/wash. Love the weight and feel of these right from day one. Gonna have to rotate them in until summer heat is too much.

I did 30 min soak and significant hand agitation with water as hot as I could possibly tolerate. Hot hot. Did lots of agitation. Drained. Refilled with fresh hot water. Repeated 3 times.
          Drip dry.

Numbers pre and post soak below.

          W 18.5 / 17.75
          Thigh 13.75 / 13.25
          Knee 9.5 / 9.2
          Hem 9 / 8.75
          Fr 13 / 12.5
          Br 16 / 15.5
          Inseam 37 / 35.5

Legit shrinkage that I was hoping for.

@dwils the numbers sound good and exactly what you should be aiming for. Also would say that you nailed your fit. Congrats! 🙂

Soaked/washed 888s and 634s last night. Didn't bother with measuring, as many others before me have done so.

I will say, that prior to soak these are super crunchy and I can't wait for them to dry so I can put them on.

                Hi guys, question:
I’ve washed mine on a 30°C delicate cycle, but I didn’t get as much shrinkage in the legs as I was hoping for. If I wash it again at 40°C, will that speed up fading and lead to significant indigo loss?

@Damocles not really. You may lose a little, but it will not be significant.

Got done with a hot soak of about 45 minutes and washed them on the "warm" setting with no spin.

Wife asked what was washing in the machine. I stated "just some jeans". Her reply: "Are you washing ALL of them", when I told her it was just two pairs she rolled her eyes. I hung them to dry in the downstairs shower to dry overnight.

I hung them out on the porch this morning so they could dry in the sun, and when I got home from work, I tried both pairs on.

                    Fucking PERFECT fits.

I'd like to extend a "Thank you" to all of you who have contributed good info over the years as to how to properly size these and account for shrinkage.

@Blue-Viking This is the recommendation for UHR fabric:

The UHR is loomstate. No processes have been performed on it. This means that the constructional stitching is not embedded into the fabric and can pop out. In addition the fabric is so dry and stiff that creases will be very sharp and abrasive and can tear.

Soaking AND an initial wash are necessary to embed the stitching and finesse the fabric. Shrinking is a by product of this.

Hot soak and wash to embed the stitches and failure to follow those instructions can lead to premature failures.

My pair of UHR 888, size 40, they can’t be any tighter… might do a soak while wearing them, any experience with that ?

@Blue-Viking none. I can’t stand wearing wet denim…they really need to be shrunk to embed the stitches. They will be tight for a day, two, or maybe a few, but stretch back out with time and wear. You will gain the most in the waist, a little in the thighs, but everything lost in the length is gone.

@Blue-Viking , if they fit and are comfortable now, they'll stretch back out to the pre shrink/wash sizing.

Hey guys! Question for those who've got a lot of wears in these and in 888's in general... I have an issue (I think) due my to relatively small waist size compared to my butt/thigh size. Whenever I sit, bend or squat at all, the back of the waist band comes away from my body and traps my shirt in that gap when I stand back up. It also happens when I wear a belt as tight as it can go. Is this something that happens to any of you? And if so, did it go away as the denim broke in and conformed to your body? I've heard this might just be a thing with high rise jeans, so I'm curious what your guys experience has been. Thanks!
