SEXIH25 = Self Edge x Iron Heart 19oz Denim Jeans
-
@WhiskeySandwich. What is your normal IH size? I guess smaller than 34
-
@yannis in 888 I have 32, 33, 34… I always go strictly by measurements, but SE measurements had me thinking these would be slimmer than my 888. They’re def the biggest pair I have tho. Shoulda gone with a 33
-

Waist 33.8
Rear rise 15.5
Front rise 11.8
Thigh 12.9
Knee 9.0
Hem 7.9
And I’m down to 33.5 inseam. A loss of 1” -
I repeated the process again and got almost zero additional shrinkage, so this seems to be as small as they'll ever be. Thing is, this fabric has a TON of stretch to it, especially after shrinking - they're still about the same as my biggest pair. I might save these for when I grow into a full sized adult male and have worn through a few of the pairs in my existing rotation. Or I might use them as a beater pair, idk.
I LOVE this denim though, really wish it was in an 888 cut. It's like a softer, airy, stretchy, crosshatchier, version of the 18oz Vintage. I really like the slubby weft yarns. I'm not sure if the 633 cut is quite my thing. It's nearly the same as 888, but with less thigh flare, created by more knee room. The rise is nice, but the fly is exactly the same length as my 888s with one less button, which imo is less gooder.
-
@WhiskeySandwich whats the knee down like? Taper like the 888?
-
@cyclops The knee and calf are a little looser, which is not where I'd want looseness, personally. The hem is a the same. compared to the 888.
I haven't started a new pair for a long time either tho, so the awkwardness of pre-creasing is there and they feel like dad-jeans. So maybe i just need to break them in. -
@WhiskeySandwich hmmm interesting. I was going to try the 633 next but i wasnt sure..i almost want the 888 cut but just less rise in front...
-
@cyclops i dont want to deter you from trying them. i just wanted to share my experience. the front rise is nearly the same as the 888. 888 just seems to fit my body type better, but i haven't worn the 633 yet other than a fit check, its not really representative of how they'll be after conforming to my body. Maybe they'll be better! idk yet tho

A warp and weft comparison of this denim vs the 18oz vintage. Not as close as I thought. This 19oz has a lot more slub and texture, especially the weft. The weft is lighter and the 19oz seems a bit lower tension weave. The weft seems heavier on this denim.

They kinda stretched back out, but the looser fit may be growing on me. Gonna give them a chance.

-
@WhiskeySandwich lookin good to me. Maybe you’ll love em. And thanks for sharing those comparison photos. Cool to see. I’ve been circling these for a few weeks now. They just seem awesome and unique.
-
@WhiskeySandwich they look great man, I would definitely wear them if I were you.
-
@WhiskeySandwich
The loose life is the lux life.
-
@Go-For-Chill @dwils @Oaktavia @Matt
Thanks dudes, I do admit they’re a bit more comfortable than a slim 888. They’ll be in the rotation and I look forward to some progress on em
-
@WhiskeySandwich that doesn’t look like a looser fit to me, just a perfect fit
-
The looser fit has taken me some time to adjust to, I tend to like my jeans slim but not tight, and these felt super loose on me to begin with. But as they've broken in and I become used to being in them, they've felt normal. I'd still like a little more taper to the ankle, anything 8" or over just feels like they swallow my feet - I'm not often in boots.
I went back to my PBJ-019 SLBs (not a wholly dissimilar fabric, but quite a different cut) on the weekend, and they now feel quite slim and I now appreciate both looks a little more evenly.
-
@ManiacLachy I couldn’t agree more!
-
Think they measure the waist the same way as IH does right?
