@Oaktavia you're fades are amazing i read the story about you're 190z overdyded "sleep shrit " thats hardcore but i completely understand the devotion. Ive just got a quick situation or question for you. I recently got a pair of 555 ultra heavy 21oz superraw sandpaper indigos size 31 and had them hemmed and was ready to hot soak and machine wash but i cant. I cant brcause they fit the way they fit kinda tight and i only can get a finger in the waist. So ive got a quandrey in which if I soak them they just wont fit me period end stop so whats you're take on if i just were them raw? Of course im working on a pair of 25oz 777's currently so i cant put them through the ringer just yet but they fit good raw just a thought

@jrb1975 are you referring to 21oz denim or UHR 21/23oz denim? Regular 21oz won't shrink so you'd be fine if they fit now. They will stretch out with wear as well. If you mean UHR, the inseam will shrink and not stretch back, that would be more of a permanent shrink. The waist will shrink and stretch back out so if they fit well now you might be alright. Might want a second opinion though.

@Oaktavia thanks for taking the time. Im referring to uhr i only wrote 21oz because thats the weight they start at until soak and wash to turn them to 23oz. Im not as concerned about the waist as i am the legs only because if they were to shrink much they would be to tight because there already tight but just going for a walk and wearing around the house i think theve stretched a bit. But mainly do u think it would be a bad idea just to wear them as is with no wash or soak and maybe down the line 6 months or so do a bathtub soak while wearing them i dont know how much trouble id be in down the road if they shrunk after they were already broken in or what would happen actually because right now as is they fit great maybe better then any ironheart jeans i own which is 4. Thanks

@jrb1975 I would soak them because of this: This is the recommendation for UHR fabric:
The UHR is loomstate. No processes have been performed on it. This means that the constructional stitching is not embedded into the fabric and can pop out. In addition the fabric is so dry and stiff that creases will be very sharp and abrasive and can tear.
Soaking AND an initial wash are necessary to embed the stitching and finesse the fabric. Shrinking is a by product of this.
Hot soak and wash to embed the stitches and failure to follow those instructions can lead to premature failures.

@goosehd ok maybe ill do a super cold soak and cold gentle wash. Thanks its just that the current fit feels just right. But theres no reason to damage them by not following the directions

Here is the full, official Iron Heart wash guide for UHR denim:
“ULTRA HEAVY RAW (UHR) DENIM
An initial soak or wash is particularly important with this denim, as it is very stiff and abrasive in its raw state, so can cut through the constructional stitching if not bedded in. The denim is loom-state (there has been no post weave processing performed on the denim), so it will shrink and skew. Our UHR jeans are designed to be “shrink to fit”, so after washing or soaking a couple of times they will shrink to tag size. You are likely to see about one inch shrinkage in the waist and two inches shrinkage in the inseam. When you get your jeans, soak them in a bathtub or large sink of cold water for a few hours. Then turn them inside-out and wash them in a washing machine* at no hotter than 30 degrees C (circa 90 degrees F), you do not need to add washing powder or detergent. Ideally no spin (or very slow spin) and don’t put them in a tumble dryer, it is far better to allow them to air dry (still inside-out). Before they are completely dry, turn right side out and try to smooth out all the wrinkles.”

Threw on the UHR’s while my XHS are drying up. Never been a big cuff guy but decided to do it for the funsies.
