666 cut is very different than 888, so I would be loathe to compare those. So shoot for as close to 88cm in the new measurement chart for these, when it comes out. Looking historically, I’d say you’ll want 34 or 35. Tight XHS is not enjoyable to wear, IMO.

I’ve been thinking of this comment the last day and honestly have been considering a potential size up on this pair.

My current XHS fit me perfectly in all places, maybe a little “too” perfect. I’m wondering if sizing up will provide more comfort. In no way do I feel like my pair is “too tight” though. I know with my current measurements the waist fits me spot on but I doubt a size up will be a significant change on the waist.

(Just to clarify by ‘sizing up’ I don’t mean the tag size, but the measurement size, I know tag size means nothing at times.)

@worn2fade it took me a long time to learn, but now I only have XHS in a “size up”. I get way more joy out of wearing them, where it used to be kind of a struggle sometimes.

I think I dig this idea. Thankfully I have 5 days to think about it haha.

May even go crazy and hem these for a clean break. Size up and hemmed? Talk about breaking out of my comfort zone.

@worn2fade I'm sizing up in all my next 888 cuts. Love my current fits but want more room, especially when getting in and out of my truck, which sits pretty high off the ground, even for a tall guy like me. Also, will make IWB a bit more comfortable for me.

^ so long as the waist doesn't get too loose. Maybe its just my OCD talking but if my jeans are too loose in the waist I just won't wear them. I hate the feeling of a high rise jean sliding down because the waisnt isn't snug.

I have been wearing 777 but am thinking of trying out the 888. Should the waist dimensions be smaller since they are worn higher up on the waist?

@jdwaid IMO the difference in rise is not significant enough to warrant sizing up or down. Aim for your ideal waist from the get go

@Phil_NYC another thing that I don’t like is a bunched up waistband. It freaking irks my soul seeing that so I’m also thinking of that downside. I was going to wait til the 6 month mark (1.5wks from now,) to wash my XHS, but I think ima wash them a week early this weekend to see how they fit after a wash. Once I determine that I’ll see whether or not I should size up.

My IH-888S-21od (88cm waist size) I can open the first button and let the others closed and I‘m able to put them on and off. In the photo you can see that on the hip side I can fit two fingers in. Basically, I don’t wear them without a belt.
I like the relaxed fit though, so I‘m not bothered but I would prefer if they would be slightly tighter and that should be the case if I go for the same size with the 25oz or am I thinking wrong?!

The only thing that worries me is that with my current IIY5 competition pair that really fits me well I‘m measuring 89cm for the waist size and that’s a 22oz but it’s a slim cut and not really comparable with the 888 cut.

@Indigo-Alchemist I'd just measure your "most comfortable pair" and go with the measurements when they come out... The good part is if they're too big you can always wear a belt, but if they're too tight there's no fix and can't wear them...

@Jord yeah, I‘m probably overthinking it. Just don’t want them too wide. If that happens to a shirt I can always tell myself it’s for layering but that won’t work with pants, for me at least 😅
Sort of what @worn2fade mentioned below with the bunched up waistband, don’t like that either

@Indigo-Alchemist IMO your best bet is to only compare the 888-XHSib size chart to your current 888’s.

If they measure 88cm at the waist and you want them a tad more snug, then when looking at the size chart check for some that measure a little less than that— just make sure that you’re cool with all other measurements. Measure the thigh on your current OD pair and if you dig how your thigh is on those make sure that you find that measurement in your new pair too. In my opinion, the most important measurement is the thigh (may be a personal thing bc I have big thighs which is what draws me to the 888 cut.)

Also pay attention to the hem. If you size down, so will that hem and a quarter inch of a difference is a huge difference when it comes to the hem.
