Today is Germany's Day of Remembrance for the Victims of National Socialism.

First comes the erosion of solidarity, then dehumanization, and then the killing.
It happens so fast. So much for "never again."

@endo The grandfather of Yotam Ben Horin survived Auschwitz. Based on his story, he wrote a song. He told me the story behind the writing process, that was a very tough conversation we had. I cannot get through it without tears in my eyes.

In light of all of the heavy things that seem to be circling around the world these days I'd like to counter with a fun fact:
In Oregon, where i live, wetland management relies on strategically placed beaver dams at various times and locations.
To get the cooperation of the furry builders the local agencies responsible will send workers out to build purposefully shitty (aesthetically and functionally) dams.
Once built the local beavers see them, think "absolutely fucking not!", tear them down, and build proper dams in their place

Don’t make the mistake I did and visit the town Beaverton thinking this is where all the furry builders live. I, in fact, did not see any beavers. Though I did gulp my share of great beers. Cheers and thanks for sharing @GraemeE need to make my way out there again

                I'm as ugly as you

Loads of good mountain biking and fishing nearby…also, to stay topical…there certainly are beavers in Beaverton. I had to walk my wife and kid down to the local creek to prove it. Lucky for me, the wildlife obliged. Lol. She still doesn’t believe I catch fish though.

Also this is how I imagine @aetas @tody @Tago-Mago would react to Schlager music
