Hello、I’m Max from Portland. I’ve been a fan of Iron Heart for a while, and just recently picked up my first bits from the company over the past few months. I’m looking forward to nerding out on denim and related topics with yall in the future!

RE: Catch of the day [Fishing]posted in Sport
Heyo, new to this thread. I’ve been fly fishing in Oregon for a few years now. It’s been mostly trout, but I’m trying to break into some rock fishing and migratory species.
Last tie:
Since the run a good fish on pink squirrels has subsided, I’ve calmed down in my fly construction (not that there’s anything terribly complex going on there, but it could be simpler).F-fly: (once I get some dyed feathers, I’ll probably tie up a rainbow).

Steelhead is like a religion here in Oregon. If I can get my daughter into it, then no one will care how much time I’m out on the river in the dark and cold ;). She loves the flies…also she’s three…so, swimming first.

RE: Lady White Co.posted in Other Brands and Shops
Have had a pair of the white t shirts I ordered directly from LWC. The website measurements are spot on. In comparison to the whitesville shirts, they are…not equivalent ;). Whitesville (snug in an air dried xl for me) are shorter and trimmer, but the cotton is softer and thicker feeling. The LWCs I have (now a total of 6 of different ‘vintage’ and colors) are all a bit more roomy in a large size and feel a bit lighter and tighter knit. My LWCs don’t receive much of a special treatment outside of air drying when I’m feeling energetic with my lauderying. The pre washed/sanforized cloth helps with my carelessness. I’m perpetually worried I’m going to shrink my whitesville shirts beyond use for me
though I do love them as a contrasting set. -

Ya know, when I think of it, it’s when I’m messing around that it happens (rod tip up and distracted). I’m thinking my first thing to try is to more actively manage my slack between casts and hold the leader on the water downstream or in hand as well. Thanks for getting me thinking…

Any tips for “just casting the leader”. I’ve got a short fish stick for tight streams, but often my leader is trying to find its way back into the guides (with the weight of the fly line pulling it down). Any hot tips to keep this from happening? Maybe something other than “use a shorter leader?” lol. Maybe there’s no trick and I already know the answer…I just don’t like it.

@Mizmazzle thanks! The real test is always “now can I see them on the water…?” Which is why I’m happy to tie up the floaters in bright colors mostly.
