@SKT imho the best side project to come out of the animal collective crew

      Glad you dig

Ironically I just looked and #3 on my list was something you had suggested to me a while back

Lost Blues and Other Songs is my favorite of his so far. "West Palm Beach" and "Horses" on there always gives me epic feels, and "Ohio River Boat Song" is a great opener. I love how unvarnished the whole thing is.

@popvulture were you in Mississippi when he played Jackson (Martin's) and Hattiesburg (Thisty Hippo) in 2004? Those were fun.

          Think it, be it.

I got into Oldham as a teen when my uncle made me a mixtape of sad American music. I have a lot to thank him for for that, had Smog and J Tillman as the other standouts.

Bill Callahan, David Berman and Will Oldham are all in a group in my head. Chuck them in with Tweedy and maybe Isbell, and they’re the defining songwriters of my life.

Broken old houses, boring Scottish whisky, weird Japanese denim, all French wine, sad American music, wool socks in summer.

Listened to their old albums while strolling through London yesterday. Made the whole experience pretty surreal, but highly enjoyable.

@Tago-Mago thing is... That doesn't do it for me. I was drawn by the illusion you created with your name... I remember when I first listened to Can Tago Mago, Speed Record shop, Ayr, Scotland c.1978. 'Mushroom' blew my mind. The percussion was seminal stuff. Love that band... and many others. But not this 🤣🙏👍

@Makarwise my forum handle is intentionally misleading in that I love krautrock (and prog and punk and many other genres), but my formative years musically were mainly spent listening to metal

Something very different to recent shares.

Lausse The Cat. Hip-hop poetry with rich vibrant audio landscapes - the production is unreal, the story-telling and writing is fantastic. This album has tethered itself to my soul.

Lausse is apparently a rapper from London/ lives in Leeds, wears a mask (like MF Doom), identity unknown (no it isn't Timothée Chalamet) and has a cat persona (stay with me). He dropped a 21 minute album then disappeared for 7 years and returns with a new record: The Mocking Stars. Mans a poet. Needs to be listened to with headphones. Over an hour of music this time round.

I would recommend listening to that first album The Girl, the Cat and the Tree. as it sets the scene for the world he's created.

Two of my fav tracks from the new album below. The second (The Mocking Stars) is majestic.

Probably not everyone's cuppa this but hopefully someone else falls deep into the Lausse rabbithole.

I'll be going to KGLW's Field of Vision II this year. I missed last year's because I was mere miles away at a bachelor/bachelorette party.

Anyway, the only of these bands I am familiar with is Denver's Blood Incantation and DJ Crenshaw. I will be researching the others, but wondered if anyone had any opinions or recommendations on any of the others: "Blood Incantation, Die Spitz, DJ Crenshaw, Earth Tongue, Etran de L'Aïr, Folk Bitch Trio, King Gizzard (every day) (I am familiar), Lisa Bella Donna, Pattie Gonia, Upchuck, and more TBA"
