IHSB-EXT-NAT - Iron Heart x Simmons Bilt Natural Horsehide Type III Jacket
-
@natefreezy I’m usually a large in IH, got this in XL and the shoulders are fine for me. The guys in Hamburg helped me with sizing.

Ps: love this jacket already. Just got it today. Thanks @Shane-B and @Axel-HH for all their help

-
@Shane-B thanks! I was worried about the shoulders. But it fits like a glove

-
@Larkens Looks good! Do you think you needed to size up to an XL if just wearing over t-shirt? Or is that to allow layering? My IH Type III is an L with similar chest measurements but the shoulders are wider by over an inch.
-
@natefreezy It fits nice with just a tee, though must say that I’m wearing my bib, so there is some extra denim in the mix on my back and front.
My guess is that size large would not be it for me. I intend on layering it with uhf/ shirt. And maybe some days with just a tee.

@ShopatIronHeart what leather is this using now? Color sort of looks like Blattwerk but texturally not so much. IHG's site said Italian horsehide I think. I'd love to know more.
Also a little bewildered by the small shoulder measurements on these. XXL is under 18" which would def make it a no-go for me, sadly, especially considering this one doesn't have a bi-swing back. I've been eyeing a natural jacket for years and wouldn't mind this being the one, but it'd have to have bigger shoulders, I'd imagine.
-
@Axel-HH it sure is

thanks! -

Will leave to the experts, but I ordered this on the assumption that it’s the prior Italian Horsehide (the old Pale Rider leather), rather than the new Blattwerk leather. I’m an XXL in almost all IH tops and went with an XXL in this jacket (as all non-shoulder measurements were ideal). The widest shoulder they had was 44 cm. I’ve got 2 other IH Simmons Bilt jackets and the XXL was perfect in both (and slightly roomy for layering), so I’m hoping that’ll continue. We’ll see if I’ve made a horribly expensive mistake!

@Shane-B How to buy for the US market - ie, without VAT?
-
@indigostiff I think we've had this conversation before, haven't we?
-
@Shane-B Not really sure. If you're referring to the belt that was too small that I returned, that was over two years ago now, right? That wasn't a VAT question, but a timely processing of a return question, from what I remember.

Oh yes, I remember, I mistook you for another customer from the US.
-
I also am interested in ordering this jacket. How do I order without the VAT, please?

Anyone have this and the Big Buck? Not the same I realize but curious what people get more use / wear out of.

I have both Extractor and Big Buck. They really could not be more different, so I wear them for different purposes. When I first ordered my Extractor several years ago, I was looking for a sized up leather jacket that I would layer over an UHF or a hoodie. When it was new, I wore it a lot, many times a week. I do not wear it as much now, rarely, mainly because I have other fade or patina projects.
I find the Big Buck to be easier to just throw on, it is much lighter than the Extractor. I do not wear the Extractor around the house like I do with my Big Buck. It is a heavy as feck, bulky jacket. The Extractor I save for special occasions now, as I have enough patina on it to my liking and it has reached the level of shiny richness I was after. So nowadays, I wear the Big Buck every Sunday but honestly I almost always have the 21oz CPO on instead.
So I guess the TLDR: I wear the Big Buck more, it's easier to throw on randomly. Extractor is a big MFer that is for out-of-the-house special occasions. YMMV.

@natefreezy I also have both the Extractor and the Pale Rider and the Big Buck (olive green). As Steve said, there are no more different jackets. The Big Buck is a glove, soft and enveloping from the first second (even too much for my taste), while the horsehide of the Extractor is quite stiff and crisp. I really like both, but for my tastes, I definitely wear the Extractor and the Pale Rider more precisely for the crispy sensation they give me.
