@mecken88
one more point for the Innovator, costs much less and is equivalent to Flat Head and Buco .
But if you get the chance to grab the fn-lj-hw001 from Flat Head ( I know there are still some new ones out there) , I definitely recommend that one when it comes to leather quality! It’s definitely something else , soft thick and oily leather and not shiny . Really unique for horse hide ! And as Mo mentioned, a real eye catcher

I am so happy to find this thread to pass the time while waiting for my Gold Digger jacket in Olive. I also ordered it in Japan and Matsuda was very helpful! Hope to get it at the end of September!
I have a practical question: does the leather need to be treated with a water repellent before being worn in the rain? -
@Marc2706
Matsuda is awesome, always very helpful and accommodating.
I would not treat the jacket in any way. Just wear it like it is. Normally they don’t need any treatment at all for years. Maybe when they got soaking wet and feel dry afterwards.
From my experience rain is even good for horsehide to break in and mould to your body.
Always try to do a few walks in the rain when I get a new jacket and they don’t get really soaking wet during that. The leather is full of oils and waxes so it’s almost like a raincoat. -
Absolutely not needed and only treated when necessary. The best leather jackets I’ve ever run across are worn by motorcyclists who have worn them through all kinds of weather. The repeated soaking and drying make the jackets take on a life of their own and in my opinion the best examples of what is and could be.

@Daniel-San thanks a lot for your help!

Yup, a good quality leather jacket will look better the more you wear it. No coating needed and no conditioning until it really needs it, a few years in.
-
@Coldsnap Are you still around? I would love to see how this jacket is aging. I have bee eyeing up this exact one for a while. I see the black one online in the EU but never this one. The cord lining is really the icing on the cake!

@BalticBob Hasn't been on since August 2024.

Who will tell me about the awesome cord lining and the fit now?
