I like the jacket you have.
I was gonna get one when it came out.
But the price I paid for mine was worth it.
        Was discounted for me

Better than Shinki leather. Maybe in your opinion.

Really terms Flat Head double rider leather is winner of all. It’s turns head. Amount of praise I get unbelievable.

Not an admin. Not a mod. But the guy whose fits turn heads and whose name comes up when people ask, “how should this piece fit?” 🖕

I’m super curious what makes the shinki better?

Feeling? Looks? Quality? I’m genuinely curious, I don’t know about the difference😊

The Flat head shinki HH double rider is about €527 more expensive then the innovator in EU.
And they have slightly different design differences too.
But both very beautiful jackets for sure.🖤

We have a saying in Sweden:

          “Smaken är som baken, delad”

Direct translation would be something like:

“The taste is like the butt cheeks, divided”

And not taste as tastes with your mouth hehe more your taste in things.
Like everyone like different things and are entitled to their opinion. A more common phrase used in English with similar meaning would probably be:

” Beauty is in the eye of the beholder”

Both killer jacket, great looks and quality leather.
Iv never had any experience with shinki, but Iv seen it’s mostly used on the highest quality products and is very appreciated. So of course it gets me curious😊🖤

when I am not mistaken the difference is even more!
the Innovator is 1800€ and the Double Rider is
            2700€ !
I have the fn-lj-hw001 version, and the leather used is my absolute favorite! It’s more a very dark brown than black . The newer hw004 version is deep black and the leather is different more like the Buco leather.
this is my one , on the second picture you can see the dark brown quite good.

you are so right, my bad Daniel😊

Don’t know how I could have seen that so
              Wrong. It’s more expensive indeed.

On German Stuf-f it’s €1.889,70 for the innovator and €2.835,09 for the fn-lj-hw004😊

So it’s €945,39 more expensive, so I was off with more then €400🫣

              Both very beautiful either way🖤

one more point for the Innovator, costs much less and is equivalent to Flat Head and Buco .
But if you get the chance to grab the fn-lj-hw001 from Flat Head ( I know there are still some new ones out there) , I definitely recommend that one when it comes to leather quality! It’s definitely something else , soft thick and oily leather and not shiny . Really unique for horse hide ! And as Mo mentioned, a real eye catcher 😁

I am so happy to find this thread to pass the time while waiting for my Gold Digger jacket in Olive. I also ordered it in Japan and Matsuda was very helpful! Hope to get it at the end of September!
I have a practical question: does the leather need to be treated with a water repellent before being worn in the rain?

Matsuda is awesome, always very helpful and accommodating.
I would not treat the jacket in any way. Just wear it like it is. Normally they don’t need any treatment at all for years. Maybe when they got soaking wet and feel dry afterwards.
From my experience rain is even good for horsehide to break in and mould to your body.
Always try to do a few walks in the rain when I get a new jacket and they don’t get really soaking wet during that. The leather is full of oils and waxes so it’s almost like a raincoat.

Absolutely not needed and only treated when necessary. The best leather jackets I’ve ever run across are worn by motorcyclists who have worn them through all kinds of weather. The repeated soaking and drying make the jackets take on a life of their own and in my opinion the best examples of what is and could be.

Yup, a good quality leather jacket will look better the more you wear it. No coating needed and no conditioning until it really needs it, a few years in.
