IHM-47-ODG - 12oz Whipcord Tanker Jacket - Olive Drab Green
-
As I said above I ordered both sizes L and XL because I was a bit unsure about the sizeing. I like the snug fit of the size L, but it is a bit tight in the shoulders and even if I lose weight in the future, my shoulder and chest size is most likely to stay the same or get bigger with training.
The XL wears a lot more comfortable in the shoulders, but my fear is, that it looks a wee bit to big on me. My wife likes it better, though.
What do you guys think? Sorry for the photo dump, but I guess a few pictures of a new produkt on an aging costumer won't hurt.
First This ist size L.

I'd go with the comfy one. Being whipcord and all if it gets too tight will then limit how often you wear it.
Just my two cents. -
XL all the way!
-
Both look good but XL will give far more layering options without looking oversized
-
@Cole I’d have the same difficulty as you deciding. What would/wouldn’t get worn with how you like to wear this? what is your usual IH jacket sizing?
-
@Boit, my "usual" size is all over the place.

My N1 deckjackets are size L, but they are tight in the shoulders now. My A2 is size L and offers room for layering, my M65s are size L and the green one has a relaxed fit while the black one is a bit tighter around the shoulders and my 526L is size XXL.
It's the same with shirts, I got older IH shirts in size L and XL that still fit me fine, but thend to go for XXL in most UHFs nowadays.
I guess a gravitate towards the XL version of this jacket, because it is definetly more comfortable to wear and leaves me more room to move my arms.
As I got older I gained some weight and have to face the fact, that I will never slim down to the sizes I wore when I was in my late 30s or early 40s. XL is a safer bet here, even though I don't like the thought.

@Cole xl looks great on you. It's the right call
-
@Cole Perfect fit man! Congratulations!
-
@Cole I think it’s a perfect fit especially when you have options to layer.

Does anyone own both this jacket and the new lightweight N1 jacket? If so, how does the fit compare? I have the new IHM-48-BLK in size XXL and the fit is perfect. I would love to add one of these to my collection and am thinking the XXL is the best size for me in this jacket as well. I have looked at the measurements over and over, but they don't tell the whole story as the cut/intended fit of the jacket is somewhat different from that of a deck jacket. Any thoughts?

@ledfut1965 I’ve worn and compared both cuts when we had them here in the office. They’re both similar in terms of sizing, but I’d say the Tanker is slightly fuller in the body and a little wider in the shoulders (as is the style of the 1940s cut). They’re both about the same length, but the Tanker probably feels shorter because of the knitted hem that pulls in at the waist. I wear a Medium in both, so if you’re not going for a deliberately oversized fit, I’d probably stick with the same sizing as your IHM-48. Hope that helps!

@SamD Thanks for the reply. I went with my gut and got the XXL - same size as my Lightweight N1 - and it was the correct choice. The two jackets are meant to fit somewhat differently, but the sizing is very consistent between the two.
