IH-526L - 19oz Left-Hand Twill Selvedge Denim Type III - Indigo

Last shot of the cast iron jacket before soak.
-
Post soak it's fitting like a dream!
-
@Ikeaparty fits like a glove.
-
Still way too hot to wear this out where I am, but been enjoying wearing it around home the last two days, trying to start breaking it in. Curious how this jacket ends up feeling once it's fully broken in — I know it will eventually stop feeling like a suit of armor, but does it always remain a bit stiff, or does it inevitably become soft?

Got my XL, and I think it’s going to be way too small after a soak. Chest measures 22” and shoulders 19.5 straight across from the back. I need the chest at least 22.5” and a 19.5” shoulder. Might return it for a xxl.
Edit: kept it and soaked it while wearing it. Could literally feel the fabric tightening up lol. Fits me like a glove with some restriction, but I’ll be fine!
-
Post soak. Still a little damp, but mostly dried up. Fits me like a glove. Any more weight gain and won’t be able to wear it
-
@MassiveThighs that's a nice fit. Looks a little short but a nice fit over a t. I have this jacket in an XXL that I've worn sparingly for about a year and washed once. It didn't shrink as much as I was expecting but I have read that it will shrink more over subsequent washes. I am still debating selling it and getting it in an XL for a fit like yours but then I run the risk of not layering.
I am an XXL in the 21oz type 3 and the 19oz LOD type 3 but this one just seems bigger.

@selbstzweck I recommend pouring yourself a nice drink of choice, sitting back, and digging deep in the thread starting at post #1. It will take some time, but I promise by the time you’re done, you’ll have a master’s degree in all things “lefty!”
-
@Mizmazzle Done exactly this. Many times, with many topics.. for me, it's one of the blessings of this forum: the wealth of knowledge available. Helped me in sizing my lefty and giving me a heads up on what to expect
-
@Mizmazzle tbh I often do this, reading topics all the way from the beginning when I am bored. I think there's a couple of discussions I have read 2-3 times even for discontinued items just because I love seing the progress and what people say about it
-
@Mizmazzle Wise words!

This is me with whatever I buy from IH. Sometimes thrice

Don’t know how the ups-guy managed to get this to my front door. Extra heavy delivery!

@Chibs @FlavourFade @selbstzweck @Larkens
I’m exactly the same. I love the research aspect of buying something new and spend hours doing so when I’m after something special. The forum is a goldmine for all things Iron Heart and such a rad place to go deep on new and rare items. So many experiences are documented here from the genesis of each shirt, jacket, jeans etc.Of course, meeting new people and talking about iron heart with fellow fanatics (and a zillion other things) is what makes this place truly amazing.

@Mizmazzle Yes! One of the many reasons why they're so successful. Quoting myself from a vid I'm editing: "This is a very forward thinking company"

@Mizmazzle your jacket is awesome. Mind me asking what your washing routine was? When I got it I wanted to get the max shrink out of it, so I initially I threw mine in the wash machine on the hottest it goes , and forgot to turn tumble off, and it left a little streak on each arm from the fabric folding. The streaks have gone away as the jacket has started to fade a bit, but I still feel like I have a little shrink to get. Anyways, did you wash it a few times before wearing? And subsequently , how often did you wash? I have some spots on it I've spot cleaned.
-
@Johnnyutah247 yo bra! Thanks. I appreciate the compliment. The best bit of advice I’d give ya is to soak it for about 30 minutes first in your bathtub or the like before washing it in the machine. That will reduce the likely hood of getting any streaking from creases the machine might press into it.
I warm soaked and hand washed mine when I first got it. I wanted to start slow as I didn’t want to get too much shrink too quickly. I knew it would shrink alot so I went slow. Then the second wash about 4 months later I did the same. It tightened up some more. For the third wash about another four months later I soaked first then cold machine washed. It tightened up a little more.
I’d be willing to guess if I warm machine washed it, it would still shrink more. But I like how it fits now so I’ll keep a cold wash regimen moving forward.

@Mizmazzle thanks man. Mine fits pretty well, but I wouldn't mind just a bit more shrink, so this gives me hope. The streaks annoyed me at first but they disappeared as it started to fade. Did you have a reason or timeline for when you washed, or just when it felt dirty?
I've always just washed my jeans when they seemed dirty, and I don't get as contrast as fades as a result. Part of the many reasons I only wear ironheart now is because their denim handles frequent washing well.
