@northsouthdenimguy "I could be this over confident. It's not even over confident, it's just true. I could put together a better fit going to a T J Maxx (discount stores in America) then if somebody just wore all Iron Heart".
I can't take a statement like that seriously. Who makes a video and posts it online just to say something so petty, directly point a finger at folks like me (us). The über pretentiousness is tasteless.
-
I’ll be honest with you. I didn’t listen all the way through… but what I got from his take is that Iron Heart is not classic. You would never have 21 oz denim or ultra heavy flannels in the past. Style is not possible when you’re wearing ALL IH(or other brands)you have to mix your brands. yada yada yada.
-
@Alex like a snow flake finding its way to a warm summer day.

Definitely seems like there’s more to it. I was looking at the transcript a minute ago it looks like he gets away from the IH stuff as the video goes on. I just can’t stomach listening to him that long.
-
I did give him the click just so I could hear it for myself and give him a thumbs down. I get that he is entitled to his opinion, as am I. My opinion is that I'm listening to a guy talk "bad" about Iron Heart while wearing a crop top blouse and "look at me" belt. You see? I sound like a fucking asshole.
The truth is, I don't love everything IH releases. my wallet and brain are happier for that.
But regarding his comments on not wearing the same brand for a full outfit, its complete bullshit. I have to come on a forum to talk about my clothes because no one in my life I interact with has anything to say positive or negative about my style choices, and they definitely aren't asking what brand anything is. We all love wearing high end fashion here, but I highly doubt many of us discuss it in casual conversation when we are out with family and friends. So what circle does this guy run in where he thinks judging expensive outfits by their brand diversity is a worthwhile discussion topic?

There is nothing wrong with that! Even I don’t love everything, but know there are others who might.
I think there really isn’t a good reason to voice your displeasure when you don’t like something. Just take a look and move on if you don’t like it.

Mods! Do something! I won't have slander!

@AdamJ Imagine if your closet looked like Haraki's "one of everything" room. you'd go mental

Got it. Think he’s still butt hurt about some beef he had with Giles way back when.
Can't even remember exactly what it was, a leather jacket I think....

If that is the main tenet of his argument, he's missing the point of Iron Heart.
We use the past as a reference and try to improve upon it for todays lifestyle, whether we do or not is worthy of a discussion, but saying what we do is not stylish because it was not done in that past, is not.
We use Polycotton constructional threads
We make M65's out of stuff other than olive cotton
We interline the N1's
We use double twisted yarns for the weft of most of our denims
We don't dissect a vintage pair of jeans and replicate the constructional stitch count
etc etc etcIf I wanted period accurate repro's I would not be wearing Iron Heart.

Hopefully I didn’t get too many people worked up. You can blame it on my 16-year-old stepdaughter. She woke me up at 3:20 this morning, she seems to think you sleep all day and stay up all night during the summer.
maybe next time I’ll just turn on a good documentary instead of going on heritage clothing YouTube channels..
-
@flannel-slut I feel this same way about certain watch channels as well. It’s a good introduction for newbies, but at a point I felt like I knew a more accurate information than the video presenter did.
-
I enjoy his videos, and the limited interaction I’ve had with him has been positive. He’s entitled to his opinion in this video, I’m entitled to not agree. I didn’t find it rude or anything though.
