Where do you all suggest taking waist measurements for these? Widest part of the waist?

As these sit more from your shoulders rather than at the waist we usually go by what tag size you wear in a pair of Iron Heart jeans or pants. IE - Tag 34 in jeans - Tag 34 in overalls if you do not have another pair of overalls to measure and compare.

If you wear a tag 33 in IH jeans, a tag 32 will be a little slimmer and the 34 a little wider—using your thigh measurement here can help you decide between the two.

If you do not have any overalls to compare and do not own any Iron Heart jeans then I would see what size you are in a pair of 634S, measuring and comparing a pair of jeans that fit you well to the actual waist measurements on the size chart and take the overalls in the same tag size as one would have in the jeans.
