Oops, I was assuming they were sedimentary. Jumped to that conclusion after seeing the layering. Not an expert, mostly just curious.
These rocks are in a quite arid and wide valley, maybe 5 km from the current riverbed. These are the Andes mountains in northern Argentina, about 60 km south of a town called Cafayate. But I’d guess that they’ve rolled quite a ways to get here as most show somewhat rounded shapes.
By crystalline, are you implying these are metamorphic? -
@twin apparently I do not see it, but I have been reading about it being a plant with a white flower. I have the same types of wildflowers popping up on my property that look like the ones in your photos. I was wondering if they were the bloodroot plant. I suppose I can just look it up on Google. It does look pretty similar to the one in your photo.
