@Denman-John beautiful shots…is there a story behind the lake shot with all the tree stumps? Love the depth of that shot with the mountains in the background

I’m fascinated by rocks…so many different kinds, colors, textures, bla bla bla.
On my last bike trip, happened on this area where nearly every rock was the same type.

            IMG_4315.jpeg
I find it amazing that the sedimentation cycles appear to repeat themselves keeping perfect timing, producing a super regular pattern (and height) of light and darker sediments. At least on this one rock.

On these others, there is more variation in the layering. Still pretty though.

I’ll thematically follow suit on @endo ’s beautiful sunset pic with these two over the Cafayate valley.

@SKT This is Buttle Lake in the middle of Vancouver Island. The stumps are in a wetland area and were logged many years ago. I took a few different pictures at this location and it’s the one I liked the most. Beautiful area!

@motojobobo What is the location? These rocks look crystalline. Rather than sedimentary. This is twin A responding.

                            Hey @twin A!
Oops, I was assuming they were sedimentary. Jumped to that conclusion after seeing the layering. Not an expert, mostly just curious.
These rocks are in a quite arid and wide valley, maybe 5 km from the current riverbed. These are the Andes mountains in northern Argentina, about 60 km south of a town called Cafayate. But I’d guess that they’ve rolled quite a ways to get here as most show somewhat rounded shapes.
By crystalline, are you implying these are metamorphic?

At Indian rock were all the kids from the one room school were taken. Many generations of my family went to the Hauck school in Anise. My pop and his brothers were the last ones to go here for school. They all walked to school back then.

@twin apparently I do not see it, but I have been reading about it being a plant with a white flower. I have the same types of wildflowers popping up on my property that look like the ones in your photos. I was wondering if they were the bloodroot plant. I suppose I can just look it up on Google. It does look pretty similar to the one in your photo.
