      Hey @twin A!
Oops, I was assuming they were sedimentary. Jumped to that conclusion after seeing the layering. Not an expert, mostly just curious.
These rocks are in a quite arid and wide valley, maybe 5 km from the current riverbed. These are the Andes mountains in northern Argentina, about 60 km south of a town called Cafayate. But I’d guess that they’ve rolled quite a ways to get here as most show somewhat rounded shapes.
By crystalline, are you implying these are metamorphic?

      The journey is the objective.

@twin apparently I do not see it, but I have been reading about it being a plant with a white flower. I have the same types of wildflowers popping up on my property that look like the ones in your photos. I was wondering if they were the bloodroot plant. I suppose I can just look it up on Google. It does look pretty similar to the one in your photo.

@Oaktavia I found it on a post made 18 days ago. It is on the first pic Bloodroot ( Sanguinaria canadensis) On the second pic is the Rue Anemone (Anemonella thallictroides)

@twin Oh sorry about that, I think my view of the forum page picked up the last post I was looking at. I thought it was from the same recent post. And cool, I'll have to pull some of those flowers up to check the roots at my place.

We took our first backpack trip of the season this weekend. I got a new backpack and had my hikers resoled. Couldn’t be happier with both!!

Hiked in in my 822s…@SKT not sure I’ll be able to hold out on that wash haha

I’m not sure what weighed me down the most…all the Iron heart I packed in…all the beer…or all the whiskey???

The new soles are game changers @Denman-John they are way more stable as the tread goes completely across the width of the outsole. Super grippy and just beefcake as hell!

We got crazy weather our last night in. Hail, rain, thunder, lightening and snow through out the night. Forced us to pack up and leave at first light the following morning. It was a fun trip. Sadly Morgan’s new 4 runner took some decent hail damage. Thank god for insurance I guess. Next trip to the high country in 5 days!!

In the easy chair with my boots on, melted whiskey in my hand. Could'na been asleep for more than three hours...time to go to work again...

@Mizmazzle if your backpack was noticeably lighter on the homeward journey then you have your answer 😛

Also, I love that Carl has his own backpack. Maybe next time he can role play a St Bernard!

@Mizmazzle love all this man. You’re gonna have some proper fucking wear on those 822’s regardless of when you decide to wash (is the campfire smoke the kicker?) That hail is incredible…how’d the tent feel with that coming down?

Edit to say bummer about Morgan’s 4-runner

@SKT it was intense how hard the hail was pounding that test. It came down so fast we took off running from the campfire to the tent and just dove in!! Haha.

Lotta smoke, mud, tree sap, sweat etc etc in those 822s at the moment. Taking them on another backpack trip next week…then I’ll wash em before the UK trip!
