@Nik I’ve always wanted to do Leadville but I need some serious training at this point in my life.
-
@goosehd agreed, gave me the itch again

Thanks for the motivation fellas. Got out for a decent and slow run yesterday. One day at a time.

Looking for advice here guys.
Need to buy ‘something’ to keep me informed of: heart rate, calories burned and beep whenever I go over a set heart rate limit. Any additional functions will be useful and nice-to-have further down the line.
I’ll initially use it for brisk walks and contolled cycling. Will likely jog too later on as I (IF ) I get in better shape .
Thank you for all suggestions. -
@motojobobo I’d recommend Garmin and I think most of them will have a heart rate monitor that you should be able to set to alert you if your HR goes to a certain number.
-
@motojobobo agree with @Nik on this. I’ve loved all my garmins. You should check out dcrainmaker.com he reviews everything and makes recommendations for cycling, running etc.
-
@motojobobo if you have an iPhone, an Apple Watch checks all those boxes

Finally in the above average zone. Only by .1 - another small step towards my fitness goals. While this was a walk. (My 5k this morning was 42.5) I’m still taking it as a win. For the next 4 weeks I’ll be in a fitness competition at work. I’m hoping to get my runs and walks all in the above average zone by week 4. Let’s go!

@Fadez awesome job man. I’ve been trying to get my cardio fitness up on my watch too. It’s definitely been motivating me to get out there consistently again.

Did my first Half marathon Race today after not running for over 10 years .
Started back running again at the start of the year been logging some decent miles and picked up a few injuries which has set me back but happy to compete Bristol Half Marathon in 1:29:27 on a Hot day . Think it was 25c️
-
@Fadez cheers mate I honestly didn’t know what I was capable of running 13.1 miles at a given pace , I’ve been doing x4 2 mile repeats off 2mins recovery at 6:35 per mile pace most Saturdays when I haven’t been injured .
so I just ran relaxed kept just clicked off the miles .
These are probably the most consistent Mile splits I’ve ever run
-
Well done @Jcaz6996 hope those injuries stay away. what's next?

I've always wanted to get into running, and only recently (this year) got fit enough to perhaps start... Any advice for a newbie?
I've lost 25kg in weight the past year, so feel a lot lighter on my feet in general whereas before when I wanted to start I felt like I would wreck my knees
