A conspiracy that large would never be successful.
Not nearly as large an undertaking, but the CIA's Blackbird A-12 Oxcart was successfully hidden from the general public for decades....
I find that astonishing in itself.

I'd never even heard of the A-12 Oxcart, but I knew about the Blackbird. Just found this about both of them. https://www.cia.gov/stories/story/oxcart-vs-blackbird-do-you-know-the-difference/

@Tago-Mago but how do I know that mods aren’t committed to propagating the Matt myth?

Yeah, the SR-71 was what was in the public eye, but the arguably better Oxcart remained hidden.

@Matt yeah we are that much worse now even than that. Pretty wild, unprecedented times.
And I disagree that space exploration is a waste of time, or that we can’t do that and other things at the same time.
The hoax argument falls apart if you just do the tiniest amount of research and critical thinking. Multiple contemporary parties, including enemies, were observing the whole thing live at the time. How would they have fooled the telescopes and radar? Why are there still rovers up there that continue to be observed by probes? Etc. it’s seriously flat earth territory if you really look at the facts.
Aren't most conspiracy theories about the moon landings based on the suggestion that NASA had no footage so PR suggested they re-shoot everything back in a studio?
Pretty sure with the amount of people involved it would be hard to keep a hoax a secret - esp something of this magnitude.
I do enjoy people arguing about it. Esp flat earth. Watching a YouTube video does not give you the authority to deny actual science from scientists. Not sure if I should laugh or just hold my head in the palm of my hands.

@Tago-Mago I think I’m convinced!

You guys are missing one important element in this discussion. @Matt lived in New Mexico for a period of time - Fact. Aliens love New Mexico - Fact. Aliens love to perform experiments on humans - Fact.
Matt saw a reason to leave New Mexico - Fact.
I’ll let you guys come up with your own conclusions.

@seawolf that documentary Behind the Curve had me shouting at the TV. “Oh. Wow. The experiment supports the earth being round. The experiment must be wrong!”
Real geniuses with a complete grasp of the scientific method

@seawolf I first found out about the Oxcart when reading about the frankly astonishing Brian Shul...
