IHSH-33-OD - 12oz Selvedge Denim Western Shirt - Indigo Overdyed Black
-
Have been wearing the shirt for most of the weekend, was out of town with a couple friends for hikes and beers, now it really needed a wash. 25 wears in total and now there was some smell developing in the pit section, that I was not able to avoid only with hanging it outside over night. I used the shirt for physical work, going out, my day job (for the days I was not obligated to wear my company shirt) with a total of 25 wears.
Since I was talking with @Nocturama about this I took measurements before and after I washed it after a 30 min cold soak at 20 degrees celsius with Low spin.
The measurements taken by me with ih method:
33od pre wash
P2p 63,5cm
Shoulder 50cm
Sleeves 70cm
Back 76cm33od post wash
P2p 62cm
Shoulder 49cm
Sleeves 68,5 cm
Back 76 cmBesides the slight decrease of sleeve length I think most of the fabric will stretch back to pre wash measurements.
I will take pictures once it's dried but of course there's not a lot of fading yet

Thanks for the info @FlavourFade - super useful to know.

@Jett129 very cool, looks like it has been washed regularly??
-
@Tago-Mago so cool!! Will wear mine more often now and also use it as a shacket in summer. Really dig od fades
-
@Tago-Mago is this the reactive dyed or sulphuric dyed version? Looks great!
-
Does anyone know if the reactive dye gives off the same sort or fades as the sulpher dyed?
-
@Oaktavia Thanks for letting me know.
I really love the fades on the sulpher dyed examples … I’d just like to know what to expect on the reactive dyed versions before taking the plunge.

I thought I read this shirt was reactive dyed somewhere as well, but the description seems to imply the direct dyed method is used. I'm under the impression reactive dyed is meant to hold it's color (think Johnny Cash series) and resist fading. direct dyed 888 21od. Dying method fades subtly but as expected. Also, I've seen on here that the entire garment will lighten with wash as the top layer of overdyed goodness sheds.

Bought mine in April, so just starting it’s journey…
