@GraemeE Yes yes..KMHD is a real gem. 2 of their djs live here in N PDX (Farnell Newton & Derek Smith). Its one of my favorite local radio stations from places I've lived (KCRW in LA being another gem)

I think it is because they are so bland, but also unoriginal. It’s like they curated all the most uninteresting parts of 30 years of alt rock (not least U2), and put it together. You can’t spell «banal» without «a…». Ok I’ll stop there.

I think music, like all art, is subjective. It is a fool's errand to attempt to say what is good or bad. Whatever you enjoy is cool.

I never liked REM when I was in middle school or high school. I still don’t like their post Green output. Similar trajectory as U2 imo. I didn’t start listening to them until last year actually.

My point is now I get to listen to 6 classic proper college rock albums like it’s new music and I’m loving it.
