That’s a shame. I liked the patina on the hardware after dying.

Does this mean the dying is done prior to construction as opposed to just dying existing indigo models? Are the buttons the same? Wonder if this will affect sizing.

So the method of dying was changed, from sulphur to direct dying, and evidently direct dying does not have the same oxidative impact on the hardware as the sulphur dying did.

First of all, I am not sure why we were not told, and therefore did not tell you guys, but that is beyond my control.

What is not, beyond my control is how none of the crew here handling the jeans coming in managed to spot the change and query it, and for that we are sorry guys. New copy is being drafted and product pages will be updated shortly. We still do have some stock of the original dying technique, and will work out how to handle the sale of these in due course. If you particularly want a pair of these, email shop@ironheart.co.uk to see if your tag size is in stock.

The use of sulphur dye has been under threat due to it's pollution and the other environmental concerns. For dyeing fabric, like the IHSH-235-BLK for eg, we use firm filtration devices that prevent harmful particles entering the watercourse. For overdyeing, however, there have been some known issues for a while and that is why we have been investigating other options.

We currently overdye in two locations (factories), heavyweight items (sewn in Kojima) go to a dyeing factory in Kojima. Lightweight items like 14 oz (sewn in Fukuyama) go to a factory in Fukuyama. The factory in Kojima has stopped using sulphur for overdying, and so all future heavyweight OD goods will no longer be dyed in the same way as before. For now, the factory in Fukuyama will continue to use the sulphur dye, but we expect this to change in the medium term future too, and at that point lightweight denim will move to the new OD method.

Thanks for the clarification, @Alex. Does the different dye method just interact differently with the rivets? Is the direct-dyeing still taking place after construction?

Just reinforces why I won’t wear any other brand of jeans, beyond their exceptional quality.

I love the fact that you guys care about the peripheral impact of manufacturing.

@Alex - thanks for clarification, personally i love the new OD's as well as the old ones. I'm a huge OD aficionado so thats why i immediately noticed the difference - didn't for a second had a thought that it's a miss on IHUK side, just to make things clear. i really appreciate the incredible level of service and information that you guys are sharing with us, the community. lots of love and respect for that.

For anyone who loves this model, I have the original production sample in near mint condition which I will be bringing to the party this weekend to auction for the @Filthy2123ozjunkie fund.

Tag size I think is 32……about 8 inches too small for my “well fed lad” proportions.

Made in England, clothed in Japan, fed in America and drunk in Belgium !

Wearing these today as well as some other IH clothings. Picked these up in November. Wearing a size 32 and initially were wayyy too tight especially in the thighs (like skinny jean tight) but have since stretched out a bit and are very comfortable now.

Iron Heart IH 666S 21oz OD Jeans – A Journey of 184 Days!

I bought my Iron Heart IH 666S 21oz OD jeans at Burg und Schild in Berlin on October 14, 2024. Since then, I have worn them every single day – that's now 184 days! I haven't washed them a single time yet.

                                  Everyday Use
As an office worker, I spend many hours sitting down, and I also bike to and from work daily, totaling 6 km so they have definitely seen the most wear in the seat area.Additionally, I live an active life with small children, so trips to the playground, bike rides in the forest and crawling around on wooden floors has given the jeans a good dose of additional wear.

                                  The Result
The jeans have developed beautifully! And they have become more and more comfortable with each use. I can really feel the difference in fit and durabilit compared to cheaper jeans I have owned. It's clear that the material is of the highest quality!

                                  First Wash
Now, my IH 666S are ready for their first wash! I can hardly wait to see how they will evolve even further. I will post some more pictures after wash!!

The journey with these jeans has only just begun, and I plan to keep them as my primary pair moving forward.

Ill let the pictures speak for themselves!
