Saw the Clash a few times. There was a venue in Birmingham (cant remember the name) that used to put on punk bands all the time, frequented it a lot in my late teens.....Damned, Adverts, The Ruts and the like......

@endo They were a really great band. The second time I saw them they were opening up for The Who,and me and everyone I was with thought they had upstaged them. It was right about the time when London Calling came out.

@tody that’s awesome! I’ve heard his solo stuff and love it, and I knew he was still out there — glad to hear he’s still bringing the goods. I haven’t been paying tons of attention to see if he comes to the states, but from what I gather, not too often. I need to double check on that.

Love the Ruts too — both are super underrated.

@popvulture He has been involved with Die Toten Hosen for some time now. 2001, they put out the "Useless" album, with them as his backing band. That's a superb record.

And Babylon's Burning by the Ruts is one of these all time classics...

As we're on the topic of UK punk - here's one of them new bands, they are quite promising:

@endo - on TANGK - just got the first listen - i like it a lot, they are still a very honest band, that works hard and put a lot of effort. they are true.

After the first 2 new songs it's all old stuff and they just kill it. Great rendition of She talks to Angels. They have a new drummer, who I think makes a world of difference.

Crazy story about a Black Crows concert I went to in ‘92. My group of friends went to see them play and one of the guys brought his girlfriend that nobody really liked other than the friend. I don’t know what she drank or took but by the 3rd song she was completely messed up and somehow ended up crowd surfing…

Because of her messed up state and she was like a limp noodle, someone (or a group of someone’s) dropped her and she hit the floor hard. They stopped the concert, turned on the house lights, and took her to the ER.

Since we all carpooled together, we left the concert and went to the hospital together missing the rest of the concert.

We were all pissed at the guy and the girlfriend…

He broke up with her by the end of the week.

Edit: she was fine other than a few decent bruises.

@goosehd I saw BC around the same time in a high school gymnasium in Germany / they covered AB’s Dreams as part of their set. Literally the best concert I’ve ever seen - better than Radiohead.

The Crowes were so good early on. Loved Luther Dickinson’s stint with them too. Chris Robinson Brotherhood with sadly, dearly departed Neal
                                        Casal was great too,

                                        as are Magpie Salute.

Since I mentioned Casal, I’ll mention Circles Around the Sun, who are still crushing. They do kind of a space disco instrumental thing.

It’s a shame CR is such a douche. The way he treated his bandmates is inexcusable. I guess he and Rich made amends but Gorman got completely screwed.

                                        Think it, be it.
