I tried them both on at ISP in Denver and all agreed sizing up for me was the way to go. The M would not have gone comfortably over anything but a tee and the L just looked better.

damn damn, might have to give this another go. I returned a medium last year due to the restriction in the pits and been wondering how a size up would work for this jacket. Love the whole primaloft line and the idea of this as a layering piece and am in favor of the chest pockets

I bought two sizes - the smaller one had the restricted pits issue and the other was the one size larger and fit like a glove..

I had the same problem, but mainly the upper arm section being super tight to the extend that it restricted my movement a bit... I was also wondering if sizing up would fix that problem as well.

I got a large in this. Same as my UHF. Fits great with no restriction. Good luck @flannel-slut

I’ll report back on how I make out fellas. Everything fit perfectly on the medium so hoping the size up isn’t sacrificing too much elsewhere

Well, got the large in just now. Still a little tight in the pit area but nowhere near as restricting as the medium was for me. Unfortunately, it is just too baggy through the midsection/opening and no longer has that sleek profile that I loved in the medium. Really wanted this one to work as I'm obsessed with the muffler and vest but going to have to send it back and move on from this piece... Sigh

@flannel-slut Thanks for sharing! I, too, tried to make this work and won't be experimenting any further after reading your experience (which is similar to mine regarding the pit area).

Edit: FWIW, I think the pattern of this jacket needs an update... Rather than removing the chest pockets which are super nice to have (see newer version of this jacket), it would be way nicer to have a less restrictive pit and upper arm/bicep area.

@flannel-slut dang…I was really hoping it would work out. Fingers crossed that future runs/iterations have measurements that work better for you.

How does one get rid of the creases on the outside after giving it a wash in the washing machine with spin at e.g., 1200 RPM? ( @Giles )

Wear it. But I have never spun at 1200, so the creases could be seriously set....

You could go to a dry cleaners and ask them to only remove the wrinkles. They will probably use a steamer. I did this with my white IH nylon jacket after I washed it and it was full of creases.

So here's the result of about half an hour of steaming and straightening the fabric with my hands:

Left is untreated, right is treated. In comparison, it definitely fixed the problem visibly to some extent. Although doing the whole jacket will take a lot of work and time, it'll be worth it in the end to restore it's original appearance. I'm taking a break for today though 😂

@flannel-slut I've been wanting this jacket (especially an iteration with a hoodie) for a long time now as my "obsession" with this product thread will surely also suggest. At first, a while ago, I had bought a tag size small which I experienced the fit issues with that I described earlier in this thread. But with you being braver than most of us, going for a size up and trying one last time motivated me to the same. And so I began to contemplate hard like always when I'm interested in an IH product that I know I will eventually somehow end up getting... sigh.

Anyway, very recently, I found someone selling one of these secondhand in a size up (tag size medium). And the price was way too good to resist another "one last try". So I just had to get it and try "one last time". The fit with this one is noticeably better in the problem areas, albeit the length of the jacket and the sleeve length having increased outside my usually preferred measurements, nevertheless not being too long to the point that the jacket would look oversized and goofy on me if that makes sense. Even if I wish the overall length and sleeve length were slightly shorter, I can now layer a T-Shirt, a wool pullover and even an IH hoodie under this one which increased the utility of this jacket a lot, making it my go-to jacket for the time being (i.e., until the weather gets gradually warmer so I can wear all of my other IH Type III jackets and SB leather jacket). I have yet another IH jacket that I now added to my arsenal and probably not enough lifetime to enjoy all of them 😂 🤦

                                            TL;DR: Yep, I sized up.
