@Paul9221 this is why I was talking about ironing the selvedge…. use a spray bottle to get them damp and lay a t-shirt over the jeans to keep them safe from the heat and iron them flat on hot.

Yeah, I kinda pieced that together once I saw them close up 🙂  Can I do that ironing trick post-soak?

yes you can. But you need water or it won't really work that great. Be sure to cover the jeans with something or the hot iron will put a sheen on where you iron.

Do you have a t-shirt or something between the iron and the selvedge or do you iron the selvedge directly?  I get that you want to cover the denim with something but I'm not sure if placing the iron on the selvedge directly will cause any problems.

I tried flipping mine right side out while still damp and almost dislocated my shoulder.

Don't iron them directly! Get something and cover anywhere you iron. Use a plain old t-shirt. If the shirt has a decoration the plastisol will transfer to the denim from the heat. It contains thermosetting plastic.

Edit: also the indigo from the denim will likely transfer to the t-shirt.

I've found it's best to turn soaked/washed jeans right side out after they're dry because if they're still wet some indigo loss can happen along any creases or folds resulting in unwanted fade marks.

Got it!  I'll try this later tonight.  Thanks for all of the tips!

Yeah, I could see that.  They're just a little damp at this point.  Dry enough that I can leave them on my bed without transferring any moisture.  But now I gotta flip them back inside-out to iron the selvedge LOL.

I iron the selvedge seam while still inside out for the first 2-3 washes with no issues. Just be mindful to stack the side seams on top of each other and stay away from the edges so as to not iron a crease in the front and back of the legs, lol!  ???

I also iron the face of the jeans, for the first 2-3 washes, to get out any creasing due to washing and to relax the denim a bit so it drapes better. It's not worth the effort after the 3rd wash or so. Like filthy said, it can leave a sheen. It hasn't been an issue for me, and it goes away after a day's wear or so, leaving no linger side effects.

So, I didn't bother with soaking of any sort… but this morning before I left home, I put them on and wet all of the bendy places (Whickers, honeycombs, stacks... those areas) with a spray bottle full of water, and have been wearing them at work today... This denim is stiff and crunchy like nobody's business..... I love it! In 6 months or so, if there's still any black 888 jeans in the store, I'll be getting a pair for sure. This is my cut.

If you changed Europe to Finland, you would be half accurate.

For most of mainland Europe, UPS standard is 2 working days.  Unfortunately for some in the extreme north, extreme south and extreme east that stretches to 3 working days.

We are working on adding a costed option at check-out to allow customers to select a pimped shipping service.

So, apparently the denim just needed to finish drying in order to shrink a bit more (the waist was a little damp when I first took my post-soak measurements).  Here are my new pre-soak/post-soak numbers on a tag 31:

                                            pre-soak:

                                            • waist:  32"
                                            • thigh: 12.65"
                                            • inseam: 36"

                                            post-soak:

                                            • waist:  31.5"
                                            • thigh: 12.25"
                                            • inseam:  35.5"
