I hold doors for people if they're within a certain range regardless of their sex, and for any of them who have a problem with it… Well it's not my problem, it's theirs, and they can have it and I'll move on without a second thought. Sorry for them to carry such pointless and harmful mental formations, and I refuse to let them spread their issues to me. I have a harder time letting actions that impact me go, and I need to work on that, because people aren't becoming any less of assholes, and I don't need to escalate things as I am wont to do.

With all there is to worry about, or think about, or do, it's staggering that people get wrapped around the axle around general courtesy... People love being victims, don't they?

      Think it, be it.

        @Giles:

Now you have touched a nerve.

A couple of flights ago, on the way back from Morocco, I sat next to a (quite large) guy, who watched shite on his phone for the whole flight, with no headphones.

When we landed, he asked me if he could use my phone to call his taxi, because he had run his phone battery to zero.

I told him that he could fuck right off…..

The next 10 minutes were a little uncomfortable, but FFS.....

HA!  That one made me snort!  The balls on that guy!  LMAO

I work in a pretty progressive area of LA and I still hold the doors open for folks at the local coffee shop.  I keep waiting for someone to hassle me about it, but so far, everyone has been very sweet.  I do make a greater effort to hold it open for women, I have to admit (terrible upbringing, I know!), but if I'm going through the door and anyone is close by behind, I'll hold it for them.

I frequently get ignored when holding a door but I don’t think I’ve gotten any dirty looks.  It’s just something I’ve always done so I really don’t think about it

I do get some heat if I say excuse me or pardon me like I’m being passive aggressive when I’m really just trying to excuse myself.

Made it to the next stop of the trip…

Andros, Bahamas - Kira was born and raised here to two American parents that had both moved here separately for work, her mother in the fashion industry, her father a marine biologist. They met down here, and eventually built the house which Kira & I are staying in at the moment. They bought the plot of land way back when for $5,000... How times have changed!

Pics are a bit shitty because I just got back from a run and my hands were sweaty and we are also experiencing some haze which some think could be a saharan sand cloud.

The driveway, and our lovely Nissan Cube (US imported vehicles are very expensive, and the Bahamas drives on the left, so Japan wins)

                      Front garden

                      Back garden

And the little pathway to our next door neighbour and great friend, Mike, who taught me to dive when I was about 13. He left the hotel that @Giles @Madame Buttonfly and I used to holiday at, and that I interned at for a few summers as a Divemaster and build a villa rental on the plot next to ours. Luckily we get full use of it when he has no guests. Unluckily (for us) he is currently occupied  😃

                                      Nice idea @jordanscollected !

So this week I have taken off as paid leave, though I obviously can't completely switch off as you can imagine..

That said, I have my hands full with other work… Today I fit a new TV - the last one got blown out by a lightning strike - and did some repairs on the aircon unit I fitted last time I was down here. It wasn't holding pressure, so we had to track down a leak.

Long story short, I either fucked up the flare on the copper pipe last time, or when I joined it to the compressor it wasn't sitting quite right, either way you can kind of see where it sat wrong

Vacuum pumped out the system to check it could hold pressure, rather than waste refrigerator gas on the troubleshoot…

Now to wait overnight and make sure that it's solid, but at least we have AC in our bedroom tonight, unlike last night!

Happily the leak was not in the joined pipes under this deck, so I didn't need to get back under it to redo anything there. Nice cool place for snakes and tarantulas to hide from the summer sun  😞
