@Pipeboss713 - looks good. I think sizing up in UHF makes sense when layering. Good to have a few oversized shirts for layering.

I tried…like REALLY tried to resist this shirt but here it is and the color is truly magnificent. I’m grateful to have it.  Thanks to the IHUK crew for the lovely card and sweets as well!

I should also add that I blame @Joberwocky and @dinobarnesberlin  specifically for this purchase.  Although I didn’t splurge for the GAH button (should’ve).

So, a story in washing and recovery of this shirt. I followed the care instructions generally advised. Cold wash, tumble dry low. Still got a bunch of shrinkage. Size large, the sleeves went to 25”, chest 22”, front length 27”, back length 28”. Not unwearable since the sleeves were already a nice long length but certainly on the smaller side of what I wanted. Especially in body length since I’m 6’0”. So I tried out the standard shrinkage recovery trick of soaking in warm water with conditioner. Then I rinsed it and removed some moisture, and stretched out the dimensions I needed. Now it’s back to about 26” sleeves, 29” rear length, 28” front length, chest 22.25”. Fits great and like my other UHFs again.

Next time I will just go straight to hang dry on this one. It was already a bit snugger than my other UHFs right out of the gate. Maybe because it’s a different maker than the others. But the good news is that if anyone has this shrink a bit, it only takes a little effort to recover. I know it might warp the pattern a little but you can’t tell with this.

Just something you might wanna look at — I had a similar problem a few years ago and realized that the taps on my washer had been installed backwards, so washing on cold meant I was blasting stuff in pure hot water. Sounds preposterous, but based on my experience, worth a check.

Something I’ve checked and already confirmed isn’t the case. Shrinkage is partially due to agitation in some fabrics. So I think this may either be “hang dry” only. And if not that, then hand wash only is fine.

Hang dry everything and you'll never have a shrinkage issue. The only thing I put in the dryer is socks.

Not strictly true, shrinkage is caused by the tensions that have built up in the spinning and weaving process that are then released when the fabric is lubricated and agitated. So a hot wash with agitation will cause shrinkage whether you drip dry or not.

Having said that, tumble drying is a big no no (moisture and stacks of agitation).
