When I was going to the gym, we occasionally had some rope jumping as part of workouts, but not much. However, now that my shoulder has gone to hell, I've stopped going and I need to find something else to keep from turning into Jabba the Hut, since I'm definitely not going to cut back on eating.
I bought a heavy rope, on the theory that it would increase my upper body component without killing my shoulder. Unfortunately, it's a few inches too short and I keep hitting myself in the head and/or tripping on it.  Maybe I'll adjust eventually. If not, guess I'll switch back to the regular rope.

I've fucked up the lateral collateral ligament in my left knee (in the gym  😃 😃 ).  I've been trying to pretend it was not as bad as it is, but stairs are a real effing challenge atm…..Got a consultation tomorrow......

Sorry about that Gilles. As for me, I had a bad bike fall last week and dislocated my shoulder. Can't work out for a while, which sucks.

You might already know this, but for the time being, when negotiating stairs…The Good foot goes up and the Bad foot goes down first.

Yep, I worked it out by trial and error.  But having to do stairs sideways  😞

I'm 6'3" and have this problem with the heavy rope I got from Academy — it's just barely long enough and I'll trip over it if I get sloppy. I think I'm going to upgrade to a Crossrope eventually. Sort of pricy but they seem to be great — all signs point to me needing their XL length for something that better fits me.

@Giles man that sucks! Sending vibes for a speedy recovery. Probably out of the question considering Covid, but is there anywhere you can swim at the moment? I've considered getting into it once things get back to "normal." Low impact seems good.

I'm using this one, only because I was trying to use up the last of some store credit they gave me. It would be great if it were 12-18 inches longer. And I'm barely 6'0", so it's not like I'm way outside the norm for height, either.

Looks like it is not an LCL injury, but Patellar tendinitis.  Which actually makes more sense as I did not have any severe trauma to injure the ligament.  Physio starts in a week….

That’s relatively good news.  I guess they recommended NSAIDS for inflammation/pain, heat/ice, and stay off of it.  Good luck with the physio!

Yeah, I think it is.  Yes, I am on anti-inflammatory's, have to try and protect than leg as much as possible, and have physio.  It's going to 4-8 weeks of sorting and then a gentle introduction to strengthening exercises.  Luckily @Madame Buttonfly bought me a course of PT for Christmas, so no excuses.

Actually have the PT this afternoon, but will only do upper body and try and protect my legs as much as poss….

Had to Google Whoop, so needless to say the answer is no.

I did get a bollocking from my PT last week.  I was wearing running shoes (he had to tell me because I had no idea), and was getting zero support where I needed it.  So he told me to get a pair of these.  Not this colour, but funnily enough, these were on special…..

I had to google it too. It looks cool, but I can’t believe they charge that monthly rate for what it does. Since I feel like it’s death by a thousand cuts with all the subscription services in my life, I’ll stick with my $0 / month Garmin that does a lot of the same stuff and more, though probably not as well in some areas. Intriguing product though. Someone like Peloton or Apple should consider acquisition. They should do something like 30 days of data is free and tiered subscriptions for longer lookbacks and additional insights. The subscription will be a wet blanket on growth IMO. Everyone’s sick of paying subscription because vendors can’t resist that recurring revenue.

                                        Think it, be it.

Poor Amazon workers… just got some very heavy packages. These go higher than my old ones, select much more rapidly when changing weight, stay there, and support planking and push-ups. My other ones were round, long spindles to allow for many disc shaped weights to be added, and this was cumbersome and difficult to use in workouts where you do circuits with various weights.  Very clever design that mitigates all of those disadvantages!
