Went over to my good friends at Arborator Denim Company in Haarlem NL to pick up a new project and I think I found the holy grail when it comes to denim western shirts!! (jeans are 555-02 with about 8 mo of wear on them)

I air the shirt every night and as often as possible when I don’t wear it.

Airing the shirt out is important as you say. I also always wear a fresh undershirt and natural, unscented deodorant on a clean body.

Worsh the undershirt after every wear and worsh the 33 as Giles says: when it looks or smells dirty, which won't be too often with this method.

Love this. I have a similar version , but yours is way more eloquent.

I don’t wear anti perspirant because of how it can stain shirts but I’ve found most deodorants don’t protect the shirt enough.  I read up on salt rock deodorants, which admittedly sounded witchy and gimmicky at first, but they work by killing the odor causing bacteria produced by sweaty pits.  The byproduct was that I could wear a denim shirt or an UHF all day and not have to wash it after a single wear.  Once your shirt smells like stinky pits there’s absolutely nothing you can do to freshen it except wash it.

I air the shirt every night and as often as possible when I don’t wear it.

I pretty much follow the same guidelines for all of my clothes. Wash on regular cold cycle, hang dry (while reshaping collars and such as much as I can while placing on the hanger). Only things I wash (still on cole) and actually put into a dryer are things like socks, underwear, sheets, towels.

As far as how often, depends on what it is. I have some IH jeans that have never met water, and I have some IH shirts that I wash once a week. If you are at all skeptical about losing sizing or length, or about fading, wash as little as possible with as much time in between.

                        Wants List:
                        IHSH-20-Red, XL
                        IHSH-208-Indigo Kersey, L-XL
                        IHSH-254-Grey Kersey, L-XL
                        IHSW-45 Black, M
                        IH-526SV 21oz type III, 38 or 40
                        IH-777S-SB size 32
                        IH-777S-142 size 31 or 32
                        IHJ-142-BLK or IND, M

I recently started to use deodorant from The Polar Company which is supposed to stop you from sweating at all, so far it’s doing an okay job.

Under the giving nerve wrecking circumstances it did an okay job, better than could be expected.

Don't most rock deodorants and other alternative deo's that claim they are "aluminum free" just have some other form of natural occurring aluminum in them? Or at least any of the ones I've seen around me have had other forms.

Another nice find on the aftermarket. Been worn a little, beautifully soft denim. A shirt I didn’t know I wanted but am really glad to give a new home to.

@jerkules  I’ll agree about the softness.  Mine is about a year old and just keeps getting better. You have made some killer finds and it looks great! I’ll try to get a pic of mine up sometime because it’s getting some nice elbow creases (for being a year old).

@dinobarnesberlin your shirt looks great on you, and funnily when I saw this thread your photos helped convince me to give this shirt a try. This is my first indigo denim western, and I almost never go for contrast stitching in a shirt. For some reason I never thought this style was for me, and was something I admired from afar. I changed my mind approximately 2 seconds after putting it on. 😃

@SKT cheers dude yeah I’ve been very lucky recently. I’d love to see pics of yours! I’m guessing this fabric is more “grows old gracefully” than “sick fades”?

I’m curious to know what this fabric is like from new? Is it crispy, or immediately soft?

I don’t remember it ever being very crinkly, pretty soft right out of the gate if memory serves.](https://www.ironheart.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=18602)
