Gonna test the limitations of the title here …

If I were to visit the production shop in Japan, is there a possibility of having a custom piece done? I plan on spending 3 months in Japan early 2022 and I love the idea of having a sample made of a type 3 jacket. I’d be bringing some Pendleton wool for a lining on it.

Absolutely zero I am afraid…...We are not a custom shop, so anything like this becomes a major aggravation......Sampling an item costs twice as much as making the same thing once it is in production, we may have to sample multiple times with no possibility of recouping that investment in a production run.  Sorry.....

To hem or not to hem …

Have quite a few IH tops now, but just received my first pair of IH jeans (1955S). Absolutely perfect fit, but as expected a few inches of extra leg length.

Ideally, I’d wear them with a single cuff. Should I get them hemmed by IHUK now, or double cuff them and wear them/wash them a bit first to see how they settle in?

            thanks - Bill

Hmmm…. There won’t be any shrinkage to speak of, but they will rise a little with wear as creases form.

On the other hand, heavy wear with a double cuff may cause damage to the fabric which may affect your hem job/single cuff.

On balance, if they were mine, I’d get them hemmed now.

@Bill C If you plan on putting them into a traditional clothing drier,I would leave an extra 1/2 inch just to be on the safe side.

I once had black jeans with a shiny effect. The fabric may have been impregnated with something. But the effect persisted even after washing. Has IH made something similar before, or is IH going to do it in the future?

Maybe model 634S-18P has a shiny effect?

I think the answer is "no," but you definitely see a similar sheen on some of IH's denims initially, and sometimes in some lights my IH-666S14OD have a similar sheen, though less uniform and concentrated in high-wear areas.

                            Think it, be it.

Looks like the shine is from a wax or oil treatment.  Check out the oiled M-65 that was just released.

I'm breaking in a pair of 888-XHSMB and I have never had to struggle so much with a button-fly as I did with these.  No kidding, every keystroke of this post is killing me because my fingers are still sore from yesterday.

The question:  IH jeans come with the top button cinched, does someone manually button these before they ship out or is the button applied and the jeans then shipped (i.e. no one manually buttons/unbuttons before shipping out)?

I have a few systems in place for this…I put a sharpie through the hole and kinda wiggle it around.  I use needlenose pliers like you mentioned.  Normally, after a few rounds of buttoning/unbuttoning, it becomes pretty simple.  For some reason, the top button is just giving me a lot of trouble this time.

If it doesn't lighten up by tomorrow, I'll try that leather oil idea.  Thanks!
