Sizing advice needed.
I am currently breaking in a pair of 666S-BK 21 in a tag size 33 with an actual waist of 33.1. Have worn them daily around the house etc for the last 10 days or so. They have stretched out to 34 (my actual waist is 34) and sit nicely with me able to get a thumb in at each hip (could wear them without a belt and wouldnt want them any tighter).
Was looking at picking up a pair of 777's and am struggling with sizing. Was thinking of going a 33 which has an actual waist of 33.6 but am afraid they will keep stretching and become too big.
Thoughts?
My recent experience with the 777S-21:
As measured by me, new before wear (size 31)
Waist 31.6" Thigh 11.45" Hip 3" up from crotch 19.5"After 20 wears, 12-14 hours per day
Waist 32.75" Thigh 11.8" Hip 20.1"Just remeasured the waist. Yesterday was 40 wears. 32.8". So it appears the stretch has settled down to about 1.2". These fit me quite tight at the waist, which I like. Thumbs barely in the waistband. Also, I don't wear a belt.
Appreciate the detailed breakdown man and everyone else's response. Seems like my gut feeling that the 33.6 waist will be too big is a good one.
Have signed up for notification on a size down (which would hopefully come in a little larger than the measurements) so will wait for an update on that.
In the meantime I need to distract myself from eyeing up a wabash shirt (indigo)

Best way to distract yourself from the shop page is to get one in your closet
Haha dont tempt me! Unfortunately I am also coming up against sizing issues there….
Have got an IHSH-33 in L that fits perfect so was looking at the Wabash Western in L but the shoulders are a little tight and the sleeves are 2 inches longer! eek. May be that I hold out for the work shirt.

Any updates on when the next production run will be for these? Everyone is sold out of the size 28

First pair of IH. After wearing these size 33 777s about 5 times I realized I should of sized down. I like the fit of the legs but the waist is gonna be too big after they stretch out.
Size 32 should arrive this week. Hopefully those work out better.

It’s interesting seeing the fit on those 33” pair. I’ve been considering getting a pair in that size.
I need to decide if the low rise (and narrow thigh) is something I’ll be comfortable with. I’ve owned a few second hand pairs of 777 jeans and can never quite get it right, eg 34” were too loose in the waist. Maybe 33” is the answer…. but then they’ll be very tight in other areas.
I own a pair of 555 jeans and find the crotch is too low and restricts my leg movement.
Does anyone have any suggestions for alternatives to 555 and 777? Something still relatively slim.

@going_to_battle if you’re thinking IH then the only other slim cut they have is the 666, although that is slim in the top block and thigh, not the knee and lower leg.
I struggle with the waist/thigh ratio on the 555, essentially because my legs are just too chunky. The 777 works just about although a higher rise suits me better as a low rise just accentuates my short inseam.
However my build means I can successfully size down one or two sizes on the 888, giving me a higher rise, elongated silhouette, taper and the thigh, which is relaxed when TTS, becomes slim. This may work for you.
@__Nicholas I like the look of those 777 on you. If you’re keeping them as well as the w32 then get a belt in the w33 and use them as a relaxed pair. The w32 should look brilliant.
As a general point, knowing how to measure the IH way, so you know what works for you, combined with knowing the idiosyncrasies of the different denim, through experience or research is key. If you then check the different measurements of the different iterations of cuts, you can normally find something that works as variations in iterations and the vagaries of shrinkage and stretch give you wiggle room (literally and metaphorically).
For example, while most 555 iterations are lost cause for me, I could do the IH-555-XHS as the measurements are a little more generous, I can go TTS, and the shrinkage will bring the waist in line. 666 cut is the slim
In the thigh for me, but the IH-666-19L-v2 is a little larger than normal and stretches readily. Likewise the straight leg and wider fit of the 634 does not flatter my stumpy legs, but there are models where slimmer measurements plus inherent stretch mean I can size down meaningfully to achieve a more attractive fit. -

It sounds like we have similar issues when it comes to finding the perfect fit, so your insight is interesting and useful.
I am 5'10" but I have quite short legs. Despite being a healthy weight of 12 stone (168lbs), I am relatively stocky, i.e. a bit of a belly (from all those beers), and quite strong thighs, so I tend to wear my jeans a bit lower than I should as I find that more comfortable. This compounds the problem of making my legs look even shorter.
I like to wear Red Wing Iron Rangers so I think I'd find the 666 cut too wide at the hem.
I will keep checking those IH measurement charts and hopefully find something that works for me.
