    I didn't experience a lot shrinkage, but the jacket is so stiff (almost unwearable) at first that soaking seemed like a good idea. And the soak makes it even stiffer at first - you'll get mad fades in no time in this fabric, no matter what you do. But to prevent the fabric from damage I'd definitely soak.

      @rodalbird

      As Neph says, the duck will fade with high contrast regardless of whether it has been soaked/washed beforehand.

      Initial soaks/washes help to bed in the stitching along with removing any shrinkage so at least one dunk in water is advisable but you could start breaking it in with view to giving it a quick & cool soak after it has started adapting to your shape.

        Thanks for your insight folks. That was helpful. I think I'll go for that initial soak.

                I'm not sure we have any indigo/indigo duck left but if we do, it will be a @VaterundSohn decision, not mine…

                    I really hope Vater&Sohn will release a 2nd run of these. A shorter box and a little more oldschool and traditional cut for the working cowboys, please  😉

                      FYI, Vater & Sohn still has XS through L in stock. The only size that's sold out both here and there right now is XXL.

                        Just picked up one of these from Finn666, what an awesome jacket! The fit is spot on with a 'Large' for me. I can't wait to see this evolving.

                            Wow. Two different types of indigo? I know that natural indigo bleeds yellow into water but synthetic bleeds blue…

                            EDIT: although if you agitated it could be the because the natty indigo oxidizing...

                              Nope.  that is the sizing agent leaching out.

                                  From Wiki:

                                  Textile warp sizing

                                  Sizing the warp
                                  Sizing of the warp yarn is essential to reduce breakage of the yarn and thus production stops on the weaving machine. On the weaving machine, the warp yarns are subjected to several types of actions i.e. cyclic strain, flexing, abrasion at various loom parts and inter yarn friction.

                                  With sizing, the strength — abrasion resistance — of the yarn will improve and the hairiness of yarn will decrease. The degree of improvement of strength depends on adhesion force between fiber and size, size penetration as well as encapsulation of yarn. Different types of water soluble polymers called textile sizing agents/chemicals such as modified starch, polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC), acrylates are used to protect the yarn. Also wax is added to reduce the abrasiveness of the warp yarns. The type of yarn material (e.g. cotton, polyester, linen), the thickness of the yarn, type of weaving machinery will determine the sizing recipe.

                                  The sizing liquor is applied on warp yarn with a warp sizing machine. After the weaving process the fabric is desized (washed).

                                  Sizing may be done by hand, or in a sizing machine.

                                    I gotta say! This is one beautiful interpretation of a type 1.. That Indigo duck wears so freakin good! There aren't many jackets from the classic shapes over time that id say that ever trump the OG ones, but this baby.. yep, cut that boxy shape out, and some killer evo wearing duck and waalaa! Though I am inclined to agree with @vizsla on the OG shorter waist. Killer wear btw @vizsla nicely worn bro. Oh, and Ive only just ordered one.. Been hiding my wallet from IH a while now.. Seems the wallet moths are out flying again! yeeew!!
