Yes, cold handwashes will minimize the shrinkage for the first wash for sure.
But when shrink is still left in the fabric, future washes will always shrink them a bit more. Although you probably won't reach "full shrinkage" ever with only cold hand washes.

If shirts are rubbing in your armpits, would that be attributed to wearing a shirt with too narrow of a shoulder width?

Thanks gents. I have two pairs of the PIH10ANT and the smaller pair are perfect but will shrink a little with a wash and I’m concerned that stretching them out to where they are now will be a struggle. I’ll try to keep them clean with regular cold washes I think.

I used to think that, but I have shirts with varying p2ps, 42.4 - 45.0, and some 45s give a lot of pit rub if the shoulders are narrower. They can also rub when worn open, and wide open, so the chest isn't pulling.

I'm guessing the narrow shoulder brings the arm hole closer to the body and causes the hole to sit too high on my shoulder. My shoulder being thicker than my arms, then rubs in the narrow arm hole… idk....

While “too narrow” chest and shoulders is a problem, it might also be the armholes. In my opinion, sometimes the seam is too high up the chest. My Ihsh-100 in Large has such a small arm opening that the seam still scrapes my underarms unnecessarily. It’s not bad, but it is noticeable in contrast to my other IH shirts. I usually size up to get more room but the 100 was still too narrow for me in that regard. That’s why I love raglan sleeves. No shoulder seam, and the arm openings generally have more room

I think @adam313 is on to something there. A narrow arm opening or shirt cut with a high p2p line would cause that. In which case you won’t see it in just one measurement as it is a case of the cut being not working on a body shape, rather than just a small chest or shoulder.

I’ve just bought a second pair of the new 666 black/ black jeans. Both have a small bit of leg twist. I know I’ve had at least one other pair of black jeans, either 555-03 or 9666z which I’ve sold that have had a small bit of leg twist.
Is there something different in the process to indigo that lends itself to leg twist?
In case it’s not obvious I’m not mad on leg twist..

All twill weaves will try to twist, whatever the colour because of the uneven tensions created in the weaving process.  Canvas and Chambray, being prime weaves, do not twist at all.

We try to take out the twist post weave, but it is not an exact science.

The 555s are my favorite, best fitting cut. I tried a pair of 666 in the 18OZ Vintage denim, and I really like the denim, but the 666 cut just doesn’t look as good on me. Not sure this helps. I don’t have big thighs,so I don’t need the extra room.

Yes indeed. What are you wondering about?

On the 555, the rise is higher than the 666 and the waist size is bigger in relation to tag size. The thigh is about as tight at the top as the 666, but tapers sharply into a tight knee. The knee then goes down to a much narrower hem. I like the cut a lot, but struggle with the thigh/waist ratio.
