@NorvilleRogers I cancelled my order after I lost my job in April... Sorry!
-
Im sorry to hear that @CosmoSix5
Im sure the right opportunity will arise for you soon mate. Good luck.

After waiting 15 weeks for my first ever custom made garment (if you exclude the dungarees my Nan made for me when I was five), Ive taken this jacket out the box, put it on a hanger and starred at it.
For some odd reason, I can’t bring myself to put it on.
Its certainly not because I’m worried about damaging it or anything like that. Im the one who happily puts leather jackets in the washing machine and have even kicked them around the floor and attacked them with sandpaper.
A friend once told me he preferred waiting for something to getting it. Maybe thats what my problem is!? Maybe I don’t want to break the spell… after all, it is a very beautiful jacket and Im sure SB have added a little ‘magic’ into the seams.
Whatever the reason is, Id be interested to know if anyone else has encountered this phenomena.
PS. Its a ‘Bobber’ made from dark brown Blattwerk, and I suspect it’s going to improve my life greatly!

@pechelman …
the fit is perfect. Debs and I went through all the numbers many times. By the end, I think she knew my body better than I do!
In my case, it’s probably just a ‘kink’ in how my brain works! -
@NorvilleRogers there have been some things like this where it was the down-selection process, customization, and actual act of deciding / ordering that brought enjoyment, and then they sit unused for one reason or another. There have been a couple of knives I bought that i never ended up using in kind of a similar thing.
Either way, that jacket and leather in particular look amazing. Like the softest/thickest old leather sofa in a fancy mountain lodge somewhere. Maybe set a day or occasion to start wearing it so you have something to look forward to?
-
@NorvilleRogers the jacket looks good on the hanger but it’s a jacket, not a decorative item. You know what you have to do!
I’ve not had your issue exactly, but @pechelman could well have the answer. I have sometimes thought that a special item deserves a proper launch rather than being slipped unobtrusively into my rotation. Set the day, enjoy the jacket, and if you’re so minded share pics here!
-
thanks @ARNC and @pechelman for your wisdom and encouragement.
I have at least turned it round so I can admire the back.
This horse WILL have its day… but probably not whilst its so damn hot! -

Bobber! -
So want to order a leather from these guys but their website is from the dark ages, they take over two weeks to answer an email, they don’t show all their leathers or linings so you can’t see what you are getting. Anyone had experience with sizing compared to what you send them etc? Thanks
-
@Gavin666 Debs at SB is usually brilliant IMO. Sometimes a little slow but they are uber busy...not just with IH work. I've only visited the shop and tried on when buying so can't help really.
-
@AdamJ Love it. Congrats, that's a very nice jacket.
-
That jacket is sweet
Thanks for bringing this Topic page to my attention. Now I’ve gone down the rabbit hole. I really like the jacket I linked, but then I start thinking I’d want it a little shorter. And then I realize that if I did that, it would basically just end up like my Mister Freedom
Campus jacket that’s sitting in my closet and getting very little wear. So the search continues…https://simmonsbilt.com/collections/vintage-classics/products/statesman

SB Tail Gunner in prairie leather. Love this jacket. Got an older brown Alexander's leather in horween with my tartan as the lining. Nice to have some Scottish gear

-
@EdH thanks mate
@northsouthdenimguy thanks! You can never have too many if you ask me

To some people websites and tech are not their natural habitat, nor should it be. Steve and Debs make amazing leather clothing, that's what they are good at.
Pick up the phone, they normally answer that......Or, go and visit them......
-
@Giles Scotland is a little bit too far away and the phone line doesn’t work. Appreciate they do and that’s why I want one. A grand is a lot to spend on something without be able to compare all their different leathers and to speak to someone to make sure sizing is right
