Simmons Bilt

Hi @CosmoSix5 … looks like we’re in roughly the same time-frame. I think im about five weeks in. I asked Debs that very question, and she was pretty relaxed about the payment. Either request an invoice or just wait ‘till it’s ready to ship and she’ll invoice you then. Hope that helps. P.S. nice leather choice! I found it quite overwhelming when the samples arrived… but went for the highly regarded (by this forum anyway) Blattwerk. I can’t wait to see the results.

@NorvilleRogers I loved the feel of the blattwerk for sure. I wanted something more rugged though. It was so soft!

Hi there @CosmoSix5
Ive just heard from Debs at Simmons Bilt that my Blattwerk jacket is ready to ship. Its been a long wait, but Im sure it’ll be worth it!
I seem to remember yours is on a similar time-line. Any news at your end? And what leather did you go for?
Perhaps we could compare fit-pics on the forum and tempt more people into the SB world! -
@NorvilleRogers I cancelled my order after I lost my job in April... Sorry!
-
Im sorry to hear that @CosmoSix5
Im sure the right opportunity will arise for you soon mate. Good luck. -
After waiting 15 weeks for my first ever custom made garment (if you exclude the dungarees my Nan made for me when I was five), Ive taken this jacket out the box, put it on a hanger and starred at it.
For some odd reason, I can’t bring myself to put it on.
Its certainly not because I’m worried about damaging it or anything like that. Im the one who happily puts leather jackets in the washing machine and have even kicked them around the floor and attacked them with sandpaper.
A friend once told me he preferred waiting for something to getting it. Maybe thats what my problem is!? Maybe I don’t want to break the spell… after all, it is a very beautiful jacket and Im sure SB have added a little ‘magic’ into the seams.
Whatever the reason is, Id be interested to know if anyone else has encountered this phenomena.
PS. Its a ‘Bobber’ made from dark brown Blattwerk, and I suspect it’s going to improve my life greatly!

@pechelman …
the fit is perfect. Debs and I went through all the numbers many times. By the end, I think she knew my body better than I do!
In my case, it’s probably just a ‘kink’ in how my brain works! -
@NorvilleRogers there have been some things like this where it was the down-selection process, customization, and actual act of deciding / ordering that brought enjoyment, and then they sit unused for one reason or another. There have been a couple of knives I bought that i never ended up using in kind of a similar thing.
Either way, that jacket and leather in particular look amazing. Like the softest/thickest old leather sofa in a fancy mountain lodge somewhere. Maybe set a day or occasion to start wearing it so you have something to look forward to?
-
@NorvilleRogers the jacket looks good on the hanger but it’s a jacket, not a decorative item. You know what you have to do!
I’ve not had your issue exactly, but @pechelman could well have the answer. I have sometimes thought that a special item deserves a proper launch rather than being slipped unobtrusively into my rotation. Set the day, enjoy the jacket, and if you’re so minded share pics here!

thanks @ARNC and @pechelman for your wisdom and encouragement.
I have at least turned it round so I can admire the back.
This horse WILL have its day… but probably not whilst its so damn hot!
