the grass is always greener….skinny dudes wish they could put on more size, not skinny dudes wish they could be skinnier.

Everybody I have known who tried to put on weight ended up regretting it. I have never tried intentionally to change my physique, it changed for my needs. When I was a jarhead I was built for jarhead business. Now I am a desk jockey and just want to live forever.

Not at all the case in my experience.  I am 35 lbs heavier than I was in high school and I don't ever want to lose these 35 lbs. All of my friends who have started weight training and a few who are on Testosterone therapy have also put on some quality pounds and they couldn't be happier.  Obviously it depends on the type of weight we are talking about here but I think it goes without saying we are referring to lean mass and not fat.  I don't think anybody wakes up and says they would really like to have about 20 more lbs of fat on their body.

Putting on weight as muscle is no problem if you do it properly. Raise your calorie intake over maintenance by 500kcal a day and train intelligently 3-5 days a week. Do this for two months and the kilos you put on will be mostly lean mass. The problem with old school "bulking" is that that like with everything else people want fast results, and pound in too many calories, they train, put on muscle, but put on fat too. Slow, steady, incremental gains is the key.

Gyms are not necessary at the end of the day.  You can build a great physique without weights.  Prison inmates are perfect examples of that.

I'm an ecto/meso so I've generally been a hardgainer but it can be done but I'll never be a massive dude without some synthetic help.  I've trained naturally every since I started lifting weights.

Gaining extra mass is something I chased throughout my 20’s and into my 30’s. It was only when I got to 96kg I realised it was pointless and wasn’t doing me any good. Let alone the hassle of finding jeans that would fit over my legs. I am now 80kg and feel fitter and more comfortable than ever.
To anyone trying to gain loads of mass I would say don’t bother it really isn’t worth it.

                  Still controversial though. Good one.

I was about 15 the first time I heard them.  I'm a musician, open minded, appreciate and have a respect for bands for what they are even if I don't particularly like them.  I've tried for the past 23 years to appreciate The Doors but I just can't.  Highly overrated and at times just downright glorified lounge music with a front man spewing bad psychedelic influenced spoken word type poetry.

And see I've never even heard of Forever Changes till just now.  After a quick Google search I've decided I need to look into them.

Basically an amazing rock album, just played almost exclusively on acoustic guitar.

Love were contemporary with The Doors on the LA scene back then but never made the commercial breakthrough that Jim and the boys did. When you hear the whole album you will understand that this is a criminal injustice.

Saw them live 3 times and thought they were absolutely phenomenal,in terms of their ensemble playing. Think Morrison was one of the best front men ever, and Densmore is one of the most underrated drummers. Krieger and Manzarek were no slouches at their respective instruments either. If you don't like them you don't like them. For what it's worth I was never high when I saw them.

                              True.
Though not as overrated as Led Zepplin.

Possibly…though honestly I haven't listened to a whole lot of Led Zeppelin to make a fair judgement on that one.

@neph93 They've just released a special 5OTH Anniversary edition/boxed set of Forever Changes on Rhino Records. Check it out. Love were bigger than you might've thought in the states during the late 60s,obviously not as commercially successful as The dreadful Doors.

No doubt, Zeppelin. The Doors didn't have a dedicated bassist. Even if they did, I don't believe Densmore was quite the talent Bonham was.

While the duo of Bonham/Jones was certainly one of the greats, I'd put the likes of Peart/Lee and Moon/Entwistle ahead of them. On my list, of course.
