The Doors are overrated.

I was about 15 the first time I heard them. I'm a musician, open minded, appreciate and have a respect for bands for what they are even if I don't particularly like them. I've tried for the past 23 years to appreciate The Doors but I just can't. Highly overrated and at times just downright glorified lounge music with a front man spewing bad psychedelic influenced spoken word type poetry.

And see I've never even heard of Forever Changes till just now.
Basically an amazing rock album, just played almost exclusively on acoustic guitar.
Love were contemporary with The Doors on the LA scene back then but never made the commercial breakthrough that Jim and the boys did. When you hear the whole album you will understand that this is a criminal injustice.

Saw them live 3 times and thought they were absolutely phenomenal,in terms of their ensemble playing. Think Morrison was one of the best front men ever,and Densmore is one of the most underrated drummers. Krieger and Manzarek were no slouches at their respective instruments either. If you don't like them you don't like them. For what it's worth I was never high when I saw them.

Just listening to the first track and I can already agree with you.

Are we referring to Zeppelin or The Doors?

Are we referring to Zeppelin or The Doors?
No doubt, Zeppelin. The Doors didn't have a dedicated bassist. Even if they did, I don't believe Densmore was quite the talent Bonham was.
While the duo of Bonham/Jones was certainly one of the greats, I'd put the likes of Peart/Lee and Moon/Entwistle ahead of them. On my list, of course.

Yeah can't say I agree with Zepellin being the greatest rhythm section in rock at all. Also depends on what your definition of "rock" is because if you're including metal (which I'm assuming we aren't but you never know) then saying Zepellin is at the top of the list is completely absurd.

Hell I'd put the Chili Peppers above Zeppelin.

@IronKnuckleHead:
holy shit I can't imagine why anyone would rather listen to Nirvana than Cinderella or Ratt.
Now this is a solid unpopular opinion.
I disagree. Nirvana is much more enjoyable than Cinderella. I kinda liked Ratt, though.Hell I'd put the Chili Peppers above Zeppelin.
Also solid. Peppers are great when Keidis accepts that he can't sing.
