  • RE: Self Edge x Iron Heart SEXIH25 Release Party - Los Angeles

@kiya how accurate are those measurements on the type 3’s? It seems crazy to me that I’d need an XXXL to get a 23 chest. Are these really that small compared to normal Iron Heart?

  • RE: SEXIH25-TIII - Self Edge x Iron Heart 19oz Denim Modified Type III Jacket

Is it just me or are these running REALLY small in the chest? I’d have to buy an XXXL to get a 23 chest? I’d hate to order and find out the measurements aren’t accurate.

Hmm. I was hoping it would be more visibly slubby, now I’m undecided. I’m curious what the inventory is like, I’m not sure that I’m interested in staying up until midnight for this.

Hovering around the two week mark now, any chance for some photos and measurements? I’m debating between one of these and the traditional Lefty OD that’s about to be restocked.

  • RE: IH-526Lod - 19oz Left-Hand Twill Selvedge Denim Type III - Indigo Overdyed Black

I have the same debate between the Self Edge and Lefty. I have a Lefty currently that I really like, it’s just quite a bit more snug in the chest and armpits than its non OD cousin (that I also have). I need to size up from my normal XL.

The idea that the Self Edge version is a more slubby material really appeals to me, I love my slubby 888’s. I hope and pray some more details are released on the Self Edge release before the Lefty restocks as I’m sure both of these are going to sell out.

  • RE: Repairs & Modifications

@JoshC thank you for a very detailed response, much appreciated. Couple questions:

1 - How do you just darn the edge of the pocket like that? I would have thought it would go through both sides of the pocket, not just the outer edge.

2 - Do you fold over the edge of the new material along the mouth of the pocket or just trim the raw edge?

3 - Any possibility of a picture of the inside of that darned edge/pocket?

    Thanks!

@68degreesorless that’s very interesting, looks like they pulled the seam apart and just darned the original bag. It looks very clean.

  • RE: Repairs & Modifications

Anyone here got some photos of how they have repaired tears in the front pocket bags, specifically up at the top along the seam/stitches? My 14oz OD’s blew both out in three months, it’s only going to get worse. I can’t see a great way of doing this besides replacing the entire pocket bags.

  • RE: Random questions to which you seek an answer

Curious, can anyone post some images of how they have repaired tears along the entrance/seam of the front pockets without replacing the entire pocket bags? My three month old 14oz OD’s have blown out both pocket bags along the stitched seam at the top of the pocket. Most repairs will likely leave some really obvious stitching along the front of the jeans. Curious how others have dealt with this.

I have to admit I was quite surprised how quickly these gave out. Maybe the OD process is rough on the lighter cotton?

    @mecken88 said in Y'2 Leathers….:

@nrtphotos the preorders for the Kakishibu window have already gone by brother. TJ released a limited of 10 jackets 19 October 2024 that was release for summer of 2025.

Haven’t heard any teaser that more will come. Probably because the most recent pre orders is not done yet.

But no one knows, time will tell. Hope you get another chance man!🫶😊

He apparently has five extras in case people need to exchange. I’m hoping I can nab one of those…

  • RE: Y'2 Leathers….

Really debating between the Kakishibu Vs Black chore… My heart says Kakishibu, it’s currently out of stock with no ETA for a new preorder. I’m also between sizes…

Crossing my fingers I will be able to snag one of the Kakishibus when the first order arrives.

I’ve barely worn mine over the last year, the instep is really tight. Not sure how much I can expect them to break in 😞

  • RE: Ship John

Curious, do a lot of Wills owners find they sit pretty snug on the hips/butt? My large long fits pretty good but is a little snug on my hips/butt. It’s probably got 1-1.5 inches of breathing room, I think the heavy fabric makes it feel tighter than it actually is. The jacket doesn’t ride up or anything it’s just a little more fitted than I’m used too. I see quite a few pictures on here of guys with a similar snug fit on the hips, so curious on peoples thoughts.

It’s long enough that even with layers I don’t think it will be an issue as they will sit higher. On my Type 3’s I’d leave the bottom button undone to give a bit more room, the button on these doesn’t work as well for that, it looks kinda weird.

I kinda hope I get a bit of shrinkage in the length from natural wear and tear (getting wet and drying off), some people online have commented that similar style waxed jackets do shrink up. Maybe mine just needs to be broken in? I’ve only worn it a couple days!

@Daniel-San are you saying yours loosened/opened up a bit in the rain after getting wet? My western Henry is a tad tight in the chest, I haven’t worn it in the rain so I’m curious…

  • RE: IHSH-397-IND - 21oz Sashiko Work Shirt - Indigo

@Buckeye there was a huge eight inch loose thread inside on of the sleeves, it was kind of sewn into the seam in various areas. They told me it shouldn’t be a problem and to cut it, haven’t had issues so far. The side tag also was torn a new one, looks like it got sucked into the sewing needle somehow? It was full of holes. I was a little choked about that, it is what it is.

Ship John farms out quite a few of their products to other companies to produce. I think just about everything besides the waxed fabrics is sewn by different companies. Personally, I think they should be a little more upfront about this, as they often talk about the associated costs of paying their staff fair wages - those staff aren’t making the a lot of the products. IMO this is also how stuff like my shirt made it out of QC, should have probably been a seconds offering.

  • RE: IHSH-397-IND - 21oz Sashiko Work Shirt - Indigo

@FourHorsemen good question. The SJ is very long, I actually like this as I find most IH is barely long enough for my size and taste - I have to size up in UHF’s for the extra bit of length and I find they are not a great fit as a result. The SJ is also a more tailored modern fit, I like this too. As for the fabric, they feel pretty similar in terms of weight. I own a PBJ sashiko jacket and consider PBJ the absolute king of Sashiko, SDA isn’t far behind. The IH stuff labeled as Sashiko isn’t really Sashiko IMO, the SJ stuff is a bit more in line but not the puffy stitches you will see on some of the real deal fabrics. My SJ shirt actually has a couple minor QC issues, they are not made in house by SJ. The IH shirt was as expected in terms of fit and finish. If I had a gun to my head and could only keep one it would probably be the SJ as it’s a bit better fit for me, I’m happy to have both, though!

  • RE: IHSH-397-IND - 21oz Sashiko Work Shirt - Indigo

I’m quite surprised so many people are sizing up in these. I’m 6’4, 190 ish pounds and the XL is quite roomy on me. I wear XL typically in IH and only size up to XXL in UHF’s as I need the extra length.

Mine was pre-faded in the arms too from rubbing in the packaging, it is what it is. My expensive Sashiko western from Ship John was the exact same in this regard. I’ll say that I MUCH prefer this fabric compared to the previous 380. I still don’t really consider these to be a true Sashiko, nice shirt either way!

  • RE: Arcteryx

@Megatron1505 I think only the Alpha SV is made in Canada, that’s it. The brand has become a bit of a running joke in BC, it’s mainly worn by young kids or office guys trying to flex their wealth. Obviously you will see it on the trails and outdoors but it’s basically a status symbol in BC. The laminated seams are absolute trash for longevity, I will never buy another jacket with them. Doesn’t matter how you treat them or wash them either. The warranty and customer service is abysmal now too.

  • RE: Y'2 Leathers….

I’ll add my two cents on sizing. I’m 6’3-6’4, 190ish pounds and have a fairly long torso. I usually fit in XL iron heart jackets and size up to XXL in UHF’s for extra length in the body. I bought a 44 in the Henry western directly from TJ a couple years ago. Beautiful jacket and colour, I really like it.

In retrospect I wish I bought a 46. I find the 44 a bit restrictive in the chest and quite tight in the armpits. It was very expensive so I haven’t just gone out and bought a bigger size. Should I stumble across an extra few grand I will sell my 44 and size up. I would 100% recommend sizing up at least a size in the westerns.

Got my XL. I think this will be my last purchase for a while, I'm bursting at the seams in my closet and it's 90% IH. Happy I got the two from this season that I really wanted.
