Taking a train to a concert, and on my way through Bryne, which is a shitty little town with only one claim to fame, a certain E. B. Haaland comes from here. Her is a mural sensibly created back when he played for a proper football team.

Firewalls configured, switches switched, and the headless host running the show. Or it will be when I get it back to Bodø. Either way, work done.

So now it’s out in some nice weather. Stavanger is a looooong way south so it’s relatively warm and sunny which is nice. Earliest sunglasses weather for many years for my part.

MRMF looking pretty nice in the light..

@tody said in The Mad Red Motherf**ker World Tour.:

@neph93 Meant to ask that before - you look like have shed some serious weight recently? Fit on the jacket is superb. And 'Surol', I know exactly what that is, yummy!

Yeah… down 8kg and counting, with a little help from a needle in the belly once a week. Doctors orders, to lower BP, and lessen pressure on my twice fucked knee, (torn PCL, and split meniscus).

^that should have been a screenshot of me watching Bodø/Glimt vs. Inter Milan while posting in the forum, but the tv company obviously has their DRM in place, thoroughly penetration tested.

@goosehd the more my attempts at penetration are denied and repulsed, the happier I will be.

Not a massive amount of action for the MRMF. Days are spent in front of screens, doing stuff with Linux distros, virtualised containers, firewalls, VLAN’s and smart switches. From there it will be penetration testing, which is as fun as it sounds but not for the reasons you’re thinking. Dirty bugger.

Made it out in the dusk today though,

I raided the local wine monopoly for beers though, here are the ones I ‘ve had so far this week:

@68degreesorless only get Swedish snus in Norway. No dip, or skoal bandits. And the Norwegian government’s effort to make packaging neutral to discourage people from buying it, hilariously backfired as everyone considers the military green with white sans serif text to be a nailed on design classic 😅

@Bridger This is Norway. I’d have to work very hard to find interesting urinals. Unlike my oldest son, who spent five months in Aberdeen recently, and could confirm that the toilet featured in Trainspotting was in fact not the worst toilet in Scotland by a long shot. He took great joy in documenting and sharing this fact.

      And the post travel beer:
      IMG_7037.jpeg

this is made by the mighty Lervig, which any beer nuts reading will be familiar with. They are from Stavanger (lucky me). I’m in Stavanger/Sandnes for a study trip (with ahem benefits). I’ll share a little of it here, but it will not be visually very exciting unless you’re a Linux nerd. More details to come.

Bådin stout, snus, first trip for the PY&Co bag, used for its intended purpose (laptop/carry on), and a ledendary mid-life crisis jacket.

@tody oh hell yes. My favourite producer of lambic and geueze. I checked the wine monopoly in Stavanger this morning and they have an impressive list of Tilquin. First stop after landing 🤗

Travelling to Stavanger tomorrow, for a week. 1000km from Bodø as the crow flies. I will not be flying like a crow however, and will need to go via Trondheim. Joy. The MRMF will be along for the ride.

Quiet night in packing, but I bought this on Friday as I love Tilquin anyway, and this bottle seemed especially appropriate.

Speaking of olive…I’ve wanted a bag from
Porter-Yoshida & Co for many years. Finally realised the dream and it was so worth waiting for. Incredible technical design and construction. And it’s practical value is enormous.

@Tobi spot on, mate. I’ll be using it like a shirt 😂 Fortunately (for the tour, my blood pressure, and my comfort), I’m down 8kg, and a leather jacket as second layer is just fine at this time of year.

I have an olive A1 tin XL that I can get over it. Not the greatest colour combo, but necessary when outside.

The reason why there’s so much indoor football. And why Italian teams hate coming here…

There’s a lot of children’s football in Norway. A lot. And a lot of money and time into it. Both from volunteers and parents. Both of my youngest play and both are playing futsal today. First game was a comfortable victory. Four more to come.

They play for Bodø Glimt, as we live in the catchment area. Undeniable that it’s pretty cool given the current climate around the club. I’m wearing the wrong jacket today, given much of the opposition wears red…
