Thanks to @Boutsk for a pleasant and easy transaction from Greece to Scotland. The 33 Indigo shirt fits perfectly. Comms were excellent from beginning to end

@NickD yes sort of... but that's a whole big hornet's nest of debate tbh... There was a lot went on there back 15 years or more ago with Aero and Alexanders. Simmons Bilt are really their own entity rather than a morphed Alexanders. Fedora lounge has a detailed account of all that happened if interested.
Debs from Simmons Bilt is just the best customer service person you could want for

Alexander Leather steerhide. Heavy tank with my woolen tartan (weathered Buchanan) interior. About 15 yrs old now and I can only wear with a t-shirt... But that's okay

Simmons Bilt tail gunner in prairie horsehide. Only a year old. Bought in the shop in Moffat. A supple, lovely leather produced in Germany, I understand. Black cotton lining. This jacket doesn't look out of place anywhere in my opinion. Love it.

@goosehd well now I know

With knowledge comes understanding. I'll be more relaxed next time I pick it up... And not stitch in a loop

Wondering why this type lll, and maybe all of them don't have a hanging loop? I seem to be picking it up off the floor more than I'd like...

@Giles absolutely no worries. Text is an ass with humour

RE: In Fitness and in Healthposted in General Chat
@Giles okay - my response was aiming at informative, as most folks don't use them these days. Lovely using wood too... But I've apparently made my point

RE: In Fitness and in Healthposted in General Chat
Just asked AI, obviously knows better than me...
When to Use Which:
Kettlebells: Best for building brute strength, power, and high-volume conditioning.
Indian Clubs: Best for long-term joint health, restoring motion, warming up, and developing graceful movement control. -
RE: In Fitness and in Healthposted in General Chat
@Giles aye - a commoner current solution, to an extent but don't allow for quite as much flow and coordination I expect. In saying that, I have little experience with kettlebells. Clubs were the mainstay of victorian/edwardian British army training. Easier to hit somebody with too I'd wager...
-
RE: In Fitness and in Healthposted in General Chat
Anybody else use Indian clubs? Reasons for using include upper body strength, coordination, flow and great for joints. A good warm up for heavier things. For me they are a great tool to help with my practice of Iaido and Jodo.

@ManiacLachy I'm in my 62nd year now but my watch still says i'm much younger... Doesn't feel like that right now as I'm working through a sort of long covid thing, nearly five months in. However, I remember in my forties thinking about where the nearest gym would be if I was going on holiday. In my fifites I would be upset if I missed a run day for anything else than recovery. Now in my 60's I'm at another junction - I'm not able to push much right now other than walk the dog and work with clients outdoors. But the next joyous way of remaining healthy and fit will appear and the habit will form - I can hear that in your story too. Just working up to the right way ahead... body and mind.

RE: Iron Heart spotted on celebritiesposted in General Chat
@Steve Robert Carlisle is mostly always Begbie in my head... although also quite good at running from fast zombies... A typical train of thought from Begbie:
Picture the scene: The other fuckin' week there, down the fuckin' Volley with Tommy, playing pool. I'm playing like Paul-Fuckin'-Newman by the way. Givin' the boy here the tannin' of a lifetime. So it comes to the, down to the last shot, the deciding ball of the whole tournament. I'm on the black and he's sittin' in the corner looking all fuckin' biscuit-arsed. When this hard cunt comes in. Obviously fuckin' fancies himself, like. Starts staring at me. Lookin' at me, right fuckin' at me, as if to say, "Come ahead, square go." You ken me, I'm not the type of cunt that goes looking for fuckin' bother, like, but at the end of the day I'm the cunt with a pool cue and he can get the fat end in his puss any time he fucking wanted like. So I squares up, casual like. What does the hard cunt do? Or the so-called hard cunt? Shites it. Puts down his drink, turns, and gets the fuck out of there. And after that, well, the game was mine.
This guy can wear Iron Heart well! Although I've learned not to hang about with Begbies over the years...

Brown leather. - two loved items.
An older Alexander's of Selkirk jacket which I can only wear with a t shirt these days. The special thing about it is the weathered Buchanan tartan lining. This matches my kilt and various other accessories. Love that connection.
The boots are a collab between Grenson and the Japanese 'Foot the coacher'. Recently I swapped the leather soles for vibram wedge and love them even more

RE: Pocketknives/Kitchen Knives/Fixed Bladesposted in Accessories
@nurunuru Yep. Mostly just silly. The suits don't understand knives as the majority won't have any history of using them. Bans and legislation generally make it harder for tool users - a knife for crime just needs to be pulled out of any kitchen block.
-
RE: Pocketknives/Kitchen Knives/Fixed Bladesposted in Accessories
Over many years of using knives I settled on Spyderco in the main. My daily carry are the bottom four - UKPK and urbans, UK legal carry. I don't often use the middle line - often drawer queens but I rate them all as decent knives, lookers and users.
The top knife is my favourite work tool (I'm an outdoors practitioner, Ranger type) a Fjallkniven F1. Made for pilots but great for bushcraft. This is my spare one... Regular use knife is a bit battered.
Most of my Spydies I've given new scales as you can see
I have other knives but don't want to reach too far down that particular rabbit hole...

RE: BROTHERHOOD OF BIBposted in General Chat
This is an elite brotherhood indeed. I've been trying to join via a tag 32 purchase of almost any bib since last summer. Denim, wabash, duck...any material and weight. I am going to look fantastic in them and feel even better...at least that's what the script running via my conceptual proliferation generator is telling me! I'll saunter back into the waiting room...

RE: Petsposted in Hobbies and Pastimes
@sabergirl and I do recognise this. My last boy - a german wirehaired pointer who I lost over a year ago, lived a wonderful life with us from the age of four (arrived beaten and frightened) till he died peacefully at 13. It's a great thing to provide loving kindness to dogs that have little chance in life... but sometimes you want to bring them up from scratch with only loving baggage that you have personally packed.

RE: Petsposted in Hobbies and Pastimes
@sabergirl aye but they won't be the spawn of my little girl
