@seawolf what kind if schooling are you up to? I finished my Masters a few years back and do not miss those days.

I couldn't wait to leave undergrad studies behind me to focus on project-focused practical courses. Teaching medical and science undergrads myself during my PhD and post-doc on the other hand was actually quite entertaining. Nothing better than telling an annoying student that they were all there of their own free will and they could leave at any time. They would fail the course, but that's their problem, not mine

@Oaktavia thanks, I loved my time in academia, but I’m not made for it. Progressing along the tenure track means getting further away from actual research and getting stuck in bureaucracy and grant proposals. Not what I enjoy. And that’s before you take the minuscule probability of getting a permanent position into account

I was never enthusiastic about going back to school until recently when I had the opportunity to have it paid for by someone else! I’m getting a masters in library science. And my brain is in perpetual mush-mode.

@sabergirl that's so rad, I am happy for you! My county paid me back for mine too, the only way I would ever have done it. Such a rad focus you were able to choose to, as is your career.

Wow! Congrats! Where did you do your MFA? Mine will be in Furniture Design and Woodworking. My university also has a robust teacher training program, so if all goes well, I'll get to teach my own class by my second semester, and continue to do that throughout the program. The end goal is to teach, so I should be very well equipped by the end of these three (yes three!) years.

@seawolf I studied at the University of Sydney, but it was all remote due to the Pandemic. The only time I was on campus was for graduation.

Furniture making sounds interesting. I'm looking forward to seeing what you produce. And, yeah, I can imagine it's a lot of work.
