Man this is a tough one. Unfortunately I can’t seem to find a size down in stock anywhere to compare otherwise I would have done so. This would have been a significant help.
IH Germany has a Tag 35 in stock if you still consider a size down.

Ok, slept on this and I think these Tag 36 are going back. If I am lucky I will snag the 35 from IH Germany - thanks @Twistlock for the suggestion!

@long_john86 I think you’re doing the right thing! For what it’s worth, I have a similar build and have had a lot of trouble nailing down the right fit in a 634 — I’ve had numerous times where I thought I’d picked the right size but had to send em back once or even twice. That said, it’s worth it. Still my favorite cut.

Hi @long_john86 , I think we're in the same boat. I also have a 634-SBG in size 36 and bought the 634xhs in size 36. After a hot soak and a 40C wash they feel pretty similar. the difference between a size 35 and 36 is huge. Almost 2". Just look at the sizing table. And this is xhs. keep this in mind.

Thread revival!! Cant believe after being a IH wearer for over a decade I finally got a pair of 634-XHS.. My god!! incredible!! what have i been doing all these years!! Best jeans i ever owned!! After the break in, they are soft as a babies butt!!

For completeness, delighted to let y’all know I managed to source the Tag 35 from IH Germany thanks to @Twistlock , the package arrived a couple of days ago (with a very painful import fees bill 🫠
)…. and I feel they fit great!
Here are some photos after the pre-soak in a bath of cold water with some Woolite.
I don’t think I could be happier and even after just a couple of hours wandering around the house in them I can already feel them softening up. This is going to be quite the journey and I am very excited about it.

Joined the 25 oz club today. Here they are straight out of the box. The last pair of size 32 in stock. Luckily they were right on size with the chart which seems perfect. (Checked with CS before I ordered )
Had them hemmed so when washed they might have a small cuff or preferable uncuffed with some stacking. They feel pretty amazing and also different from both my 21 oz and my UHRs . The weather might not call for 25oz atm but will have them soaked and washed and ready by end of the week
