I’m fascinated by rocks…so many different kinds, colors, textures, bla bla bla.
On my last bike trip, happened on this area where nearly every rock was the same type.
I find it amazing that the sedimentation cycles appear to repeat themselves keeping perfect timing, producing a super regular pattern (and height) of light and darker sediments. At least on this one rock.On these others, there is more variation in the layering. Still pretty though.

@SKT This is Buttle Lake in the middle of Vancouver Island. The stumps are in a wetland area and were logged many years ago. I took a few different pictures at this location and it’s the one I liked the most. Beautiful area!

@motojobobo What is the location? These rocks look crystalline. Rather than sedimentary. This is twin A responding.

Oops, I was assuming they were sedimentary. Jumped to that conclusion after seeing the layering. Not an expert, mostly just curious.
These rocks are in a quite arid and wide valley, maybe 5 km from the current riverbed. These are the Andes mountains in northern Argentina, about 60 km south of a town called Cafayate. But I’d guess that they’ve rolled quite a ways to get here as most show somewhat rounded shapes.
By crystalline, are you implying these are metamorphic?
