I have what may be a dumb question but I'm good with that.  So I think I read somewhere at some point that the 218 was made using the SBG process, would the sulphur dyed warp yarns then produce a chemical smell or "that sulphur smell"?  I received a 218 in the mail today and this bad boy stinks.

That's bizarre. The 218 has never been made SBG. The point with the JC line is that they aresuperblack and won't fade. There was a SBG western many years ago however. The IHSH-08, I think. Generally IH SBG doesn't have a strong sulphur smell in my experience.

Yeah I'm not sure @neph93.  When I put the shirt on, it was like standing in a cloud of chemical smell so I didn't keep it on for long.  I could certainly be misremembering what I read though since it was a while ago and I couldn't find the post again to be sure of what I read.  It was likely an old post, so you may be on to something in that it may have been about a different black shirt and I'm crossing them.  Either way, I emailed the stockist and the owner who responded also said it was a superblack shirt so the odor was due to that process and that it would dissipate in time, so the shirt currently hanging out on a rod all by its lonesome.  We'll see what happens.

The only thing I can possibly think of is that maybe some kind of cleaner of some sort,or any chemical product was used in the shop and they don't realize that the smell may have permeated some of the clothes.You might need to soak or wash it.

Just given my IHSH-218 a second soak after 50 wears. I have never had any denim that was still so stiff after this amount of wear. Even though there has been some suggestion that this doesn't fade, it is starting to fade (very slowly).

I’m a medium in uhf and I have medium denim shirts that are a little roomy but look great
Worried I might be too big for the small

I'd like to purchase one of these I bought an XL in the Murasaki the fit is very similar should I go XL again or is this a different style and less of an over shirt than the Murasaki ?

@Bagman the solution here is simple. Measure your Murasaki the Iron heart way, and then compare to the specific measurements for the Johnny Cash. The IHUK crew does an amazing job of making sure the measurements you see for the specific size, line up with the shirt you are purchasing.  I will say that westerns are cut more tapered at the waist than the work shirt cut (more boxy).
