@derek111 i know this is old, it picked up where i last looked at the thread, but turtles are the GOAT. especially on a nato. wish i could find that gilt model, i'd have two!

@WhiskeySandwich It has been perfect for me so far. Actually on the hunt for another nato strap if you have any suggestions??

@derek111 I really like the Blushark natos. I have way more than I care to admit. the Orca is my fave, a nicely textured basic one but they have fancier ones too.

EDIT: i wanted to add that I always cut the second strap off of my Natos as soon as i get em. I like the true singlepass without the keeper. I place the case in the middle and treat it like a regular strap, with the added safety in case a springbar lets go. Once a nato is broken in, the creases wont let the case slide off anyway, so i can do away with the extra thickness beneath my caseback. If you do it, be sure to singe the fray after you snip it.

For those of you coming to Baltimore in September, here’s an example of one bid their offerings that I love. It’s got a definite Explorer II feel to it. I’m considering getting the silver one…

Besides nice clothing, my other hobby was / is / has been watch modding. I would never call myself a watch maker because I definitely do not posess 1% of the training, skill and patience to do what a watchmaker does, but I have taken mechanical movements apart and successfully put them back together again.

I've not built anything in a long while but this was my last project.

Custom bead blasted case, custom Subversive dial, but pretty standard fare otherwise. I adore a good 5517, but they are basically unattainable. So my builds often revolve around reinterpretations of the classic milsub in different formats. In this case, I wanted to build something that plays with the new YM Titanium look. I normally prefer matte printed dials, and aluminum bezel inserts, but went with applied and ceramic here for the modern look, and I really dig the three dimensionality it adds.
The logo is from a watch-adjacent forum that I am a semi active member of that commissioned the dial as forum project.

I’ve tried to stay away from buying more watches and have been successful for the last 12 years. Big failure this month and most likely more to follow.

This GMWB5000D-1C is made in Japan and resembles the original GShock that came out on 1983. Its unapologetically blingy, polished, stainless steel is solid and quite heavy. Heavier than my sub, and took a few days to get used to on the wrist. Having said that it’s brought me a disproportionate amount of joy so I thought I would share.

This isn’t my only G-Shock and admittedly won’t be my last. 👀

@FlavourFade There's something so weird and even off-putting about a G-shock that isn't light or primarily made of resin. That's how I felt until handling this one in a shop. It was so confusing. But I just went with it haha. Definitely worth checking out!

                                Kiger Milsub for today.

You may remember a few years back Kiger was in the watch news because Rolex tried to claim his trademark on the term Milsub, and failed. A real David vs Goliath story. I picked this watch up new from Mark Kiger directly off his Facebook page a few years before all that kerfuffle. I was a bit apprehensive at the time but Mark has an excellent reputation among the watch nerds I consider friends and I neednt have worried. Killer watch, great guy and story behind it.

@Chibs I really like that metal version you have there. It’s an affordable statement piece

I wear my MTG-S1000D in rotation with a couple resin gshocks and this is by far my favorite. They have resin inserts in the metal band for comfort.

The newest MTGs are bananas expensive but some are really cool looking.
